I understand that 343i has some fun new gametypes they want to share, I understand that a lot of the community loves playing the gametypes that have been released in the launch playlists. I even understand that there will be added playlists at some point after the launch.
But what I don’t understand is why at release, when the Halo 4 population is likely to be the highest, they would have minimal options. It seems completely counter-intuitive; and it is backwards from previous Halo games. Why wouldn’t 343i come out with a huge list of playlists, to give everyone something to play? All of the playlists are going to be full at launch really no matter what; so why cut the options down?
The only reasons I can think of are that they want us to play their new game-types. But we’re buying their product, I feel like they should put their best product out their and not force feed us something they like.
One of the things I love most about Halo is that I can have fun in so many different ways. Thinking back to Halo 2, I had fun playing competitive, even going to tournaments; but I also had fun playing things like Tower of Power, Zombies, Hide N Seek, Sword Ball and Troy. That’s what is great, there isn’t one way to have fun in this game. So why would 343i try to limit the options of ways to have fun in this game from the get-go, I’m really just trying to understand.
I believe also it will help with matchmaking at launch. If there are less playlists there will be larger populations in each, thus improving matchmaking quality. I’d imagine this factored into that decision.
QueenlyTree: This is about all Halos–I can have fun in tons of ways in Halo MP; I can’t think of another MP with so many ways to have fun. It’s one of the great things about Halo as a game.
ZKC: There will be millions of people playing at all times, do you really not think matchmaking will work even with twice the playlists? Plus at the beginning the skill data really won’t be accurate as people learn at much different speeds.
Quality over quantity, with the knowledge that adding things over time will improve the novelty of the game… as opposed to tweaking and taking away from the system over time.
I tweeted my disappointment to bs angel last night and heres what she said:
what Im hoping Im getting out of this is playing and testing of their new game types then they will add traditional halo games and play lists to the list.
hoping anyway. I just want to see multi team, CTF in BTB and swat make a come back
