There are multiple reasons why i consider reach to be a better game.
1.no customizable loadouts. I like the idea of armor abilities and tactical packages, but players should not be able to start with different weapons. halo needs to remain fair and balanced like it always as been. for example, the halo 4 DMR absolutely destroys map flow in BTB, its so easy to 5 shot someone that all you can do is stay in cover until you acquire a power weapons through ordinance.
BTB has been completely ruined for me by plasma pistols and plasma grenades. Coupled with the fact that vehicles are now made of paper, they are almost utterly useless.
no Ordinance. While the idea of personal ordinance and initial ordinance is a good one, they are implemented very badly in the current matchmaking system. personal ordinance needs to be limited to semi power weapons like the railgun, stick detonator, etc, powerups (no damage boost) and grenades. The ability to call in a binary rifle without getting a single kill is complete horseshiz (assists), the presence of super power weapons in personal ordinance totally destroys map flow and gameplay and awards victories to undeserving, less skilled teams.
3.working fileshare. its been 2 months and 343 still hasnt got the files share working. they must be playing CoD in their office or something.
amazing forging. reaches forge was a huge leap up from halo 3s, but i feel like halo 4 took a step back down. We no longer have any forge world like map or forgable terrain, and the additions like magnets and lighting are useless.
Coop campaign and campaign theatre. Why 343. just why. why did yuo have to take these out?! huh?
I hope that sometime down the road 343 experiments with ordinance and the state of loadouts more to bring back a more even playing field while incorporating the new features.
Things like more limited or removed personal loadouts, removed personal ordinance, and Armor Abilities available through ordinance.
The new features are nice, but really need to be toned down. More arena style maps are needed too.
Reach really went overboard on the Forge options, they gave you just sooo much! It’s no surprise that 343 had to tone it back down for Halo 4. But… I would like a return to that style and more custom games options.
I prefer the Halo 4 loadout system, the only problems are the DMR and BS for their way too quick killtimes and that’s just weapon balance.
Ordnance needs major tweaks or be removed, but it isn’t in all game types so that helps.
As for the fileshare, Halo 3 system over Reach’s. Also, it was just a convenient system to show your files. And 343 decided to revamp it and it turned out to be harder to work with than they expected, look for it possibly being added in the January TU.
Theater, I don’t know what happened to that one so I’m in no spot to comment on it

I pretty much agree. I see potential in the game as-is, but the Random Ordinance Drop system is garbage, and they could achieve power weapon spawns with waypoints by using respawning Initial Ordinance instead, just like Halo 1-Reach’s weapon spawns, but with waypoints when they spawn. I also think that de-scoping when shot should’ve been kept. It added a layer of meta to any longrange gunfight, and it helped balance out long-range weapons. In Halo 4, it would really help to balance out automatics against precisions outside of magnetism range, as well as balancing the BR against the DMR more at long range.
As another point, sprint in future Halo games shouldn’t be ridiculously faster than base player speed. Its existence is fine, but Sprinting (as it is) is just too much of an increase over base speed to work well.
