why 343 radar is stil 18m? make it 25 or 30m like beta, it was much more fun…i am tired of diying from “usains bolts” people that just use sprint and spartan charge…is useless the radar, we dont have time to react.

I agree 100%.
There was no need for this thread seeing as though there is one already addressing this issue on the front page.

That was a necro, it’ll be locked soon.
Have 2 playlists, TA with no radar, and TS with 25m radar.
I don’t want radar, some people do, so split them in half.
So players who can’t shoot well can utilize spartan charge as often as possible.

Ahh my bad then. I’ll copy paste what I said in that thread then.
Anyone that actually likes the 18m radar needs to take a long hard look into how Halo used to be. Tell me, exactly what other purpose does an 18m radar range do for a player besides getting an easy flank on someone? Absolutely nothing. Oh wow, you managed to flank me and put the first couple of shots into me before I even managed to realize where those shots were coming from! You MUST be good and I MUST have poor situational awareness skills! Right?
Anyone with half a brain could manage to flank someone and most likely finish someone off by the time they turn around. I swear, if the radar was increased to 25m those players would want to think twice about trying to blatantly rush someone in hopes of getting an easy kill. Back in the days of older Halos, the 25m range made it so you actually had to plan and coordinate your flank to absolutely know when the most precise and best moment to pop in and finish off kills were.
If anything, the 18m in H5 is more of a crutch for players than the 25m ever was for the simple fact that you could very easily get the jump on someone who is scoped in or busy in another gunfight. Doesn’t give any player time to prepare for the next battle because they just don’t know where they might be coming from. You try to pre nade likely spots but that’s mostly based on luck. Don’t even get me started on Spartan Charge and the increased movement speed with Sprint. With those two elements combined, it makes Spartan Charges take absolutely no skill whatsoever to execute. All you really need to make sure is wait for an unsuspecting player to be busy in another gunfight or to be off his guard and 90% of the time, you will kill him. Whoop de frickin do. With 25m radar you would see that -Yoink- coming from a mile away which would give you just enough time to prepare for his charge.
25m in H5 and every Halo from here on out would be the best option and will promote much smarter gameplay.

My opinion as a competitive player, is that radar should be gone. In high levels of play, everything you said is the opposite. The game slows down incredibly, and it’s no longer fun to play. It also removes situational awareness, and communication because you just have to look at the bottom left to see what’s around you. It also creates more camping.
I don’t want radar, casuals want radar, 343i, compromise sucks, split the playlists. You can’t expect the comp settings to have radar and SR’s and the Esports fans to be happy, and you can’t cut the range for casuals and expect them to be happy.
What radar? Halo has always used a motion tracker.
Anyway, I think one reason 343 refuses to give us a larger tracker radius is because of the pretty small, cramped Arena maps that we have to play on.

High level play is even worse with 18m. Players still Spartan charge and gameplay is as fast as ever. Only when a few players that quit is when the game starts to slow down immensely. Radar is not the problem, it’s the range of it combined with the new movement mechanics that makes it utterly pointless. I agree that ranked playlist should have no radar though. But at least have a 25m radar in social.
Yeah, I feel that at 18m, it’s super easy to just sprint up to someone outside their peripheral vision and charge them before they’ve had time to react. Halo has always had a motion tracker, so to get rid of it all together might be a little too drastic, but I do agree with Vicious, have it at 25m for social and disable it for more skilled modes such as Swat, Breakout, and eSports matches.
Pretty much like it always had been in the past.

Except that the maps are far from small and cramped… They’re much bigger now that they have to accommodate sprint. And seeing as how Spartans can now run around the map more quickly, why give us a smaller motion tracker? It’s counter-intuitive.
My guess is that 343i wanted to find a good balance between the no radar of competitive gametypes and normal radar of normal Halo. In doing so, however, they created something that nobody wants.
Wasn’t wild about the smaller range at first, but now I dig it. Can’t rely on it nearly as much as in the past. Much more freedom of movement now, which was my problem with the old tracker.

The maps feel kinda small and cramped if you ask me, especially compared to some of the maps from older games.
It does seem counter-intuitive. If anything, it would make more sense to enlarge the tracker.
Why did they downgrade from Halo 4’s radar?
Less range, and gives less detailed information than H5’s.
I liked it in the Beta, 20 or 30 meters would be good in Warzone and WZFF.

I agree and I just can´t understand why they don´t change it. I´d say its fair to say enough people have demanded a change.
The logic baffles me…
Let’s give every player the ability to Sprint and be able to Spartan charge, now let’s decrease the radar range so players have less time to prepare for a fight etc…
You’d think with a higher level of mobility, the radar range would increase as well…instead its done the opposite!

I’m pretty sure making the radar larger wont change that, there are just too many ppl that are not watching at their radar
The situation is even worse on infection I believe. You are easily killed mostly before you can react because of the super-long sword lunge range, so even if they are on your motion tracker, you’d better be looking at them or you are dead.

And thats the thing, reward players who have the skill/multitasking ability too both run/shootetc while also keeping track of the radar. It´s like any other aspect of the game that requires some kind of skill/ability. Or we might as well double the hit boxes too to even out any skill differences.
