Why radar is so trashy

18 m is a very short distance, the distance from the radar seems too small, the Halo5 radar is useless and we all need large radars to prepare attacks and defenses
Play infection is ridiculous, low on ammo in weapons, trashy radar, campers.
I play Halo for a long time, and I’ve never seen a radar so useless like this, Will the 34i fix this -Yoink-?
Your enemy jumps up and does not appear on Radar, this is ridiculous

i dont even like the radar in arena. I think 18m for arena maps is fine even though i dont like them.

Omg i love how the forums replace the word S H I T for -Yoink-

I’ve never seen any one running up at me show up. I don’t get how low I need latency to be for it to work.

It’s just big enough for Arena.

And seem fine for WZ/BTB.

Yeah, we have that for a reason.

I have to disagree. This may be the most technical iteration of the radar we’ve seen so far. That makes it so that you have to not only pay attention to the motion sensor when you see your teammates dying but to your surroundings as well in order to stay alive. It’s a completely different story from what one would see, for instance, in Halo 4: the radar was able to pick up readings from a kilometer away, making map awareness completely unecessary (and as much as I like the maps from H4, I couldn’t tell you any sort of power position from them, mainly because I didn’t need to learn any of said positions). The motion sensor in Halo 5 gives you exactly what you need, be it an indication of a spartan charge or of an upcoming ninja opportunity. Maybe that’s the reason that it’s present in HCS.

Is the reason it’s 18 m is because if it were any bigger people would camp? I’m just curious because I don’t want the radar to be that big , but I’d find 25 m to be not too big or too small and can give ample time to prepare for an enemy ambush. 18 m from my time playing seems to be too short of range to be of any use. It’d almost be better if there was no radar so there’d be less clutter on the hud or that people like myself don’t check on it out of habit.

Overa

In a manner, yes.

> We’ve decided to drastically reduce the range of the radar down to 18 meters. The radar has now become less of a motion tracker that sees through multiple rooms and is now more of a combat tracker that promotes engagement. If someone shows up on your radar, they are REALLY close and a fight is about to go down. This is something that we feel is in line with our equal starts philosophy where everyone at all skill levels and competition will be playing the same game.

Campers?? On Infection, that’s pretty much the way to play it. It’s meant to be a sneak around make defenses and hold out. Not run around and get your face sliced off. I disagree with your argument really just though it was funny you pointed out this specific game type and play style.

Camping and Infection have always gone together, since Infection’s inception, like bread and butter; like salt and pepper; like peanut butter and jelly; like Simon and Garfunkel.

For you hide is good, not for me, I don’t like it

And why should a gametype conform to what you want?

the gametype shouldn’t conform to what I want, I just telling that I hate this type of thinh

a larger radar, say one that covers a quarter to half of these arena maps would tip the scales and give campers an out right superior advantage which in turn slow matches to crawl unless 343i nerfs all weapons and/or buffs shield health

They should make it so you show up on radar only if standing still. There - no more camping. Halo is now a better place.

Agreed.

Like Halo 5 & latency.

Except Halo 5 generally runs pretty smooth for me. I rarely see lag, have gotten disconnected once or twice since launch.

Lag isn’t the issue.

It’s latency, mainly related to how far you are from the host server - For various reasons most players outside of the US are forced to play on servers located there, often against US opponents.

Unfortunetly 343i in their wisdom decided that manual server selction akin to Titanfall would be a bad idea.
