Why perks are a great addition

So, the first thing that people need to understand is that these are not perks in the sense of call of duty. They stated that how you customize your armor will give you various boosts. For example a specific type of knee pads could make jetpacks last a little longer. Another thing that people seem to think is that there will be an unbalance, however if players of similar ranks face each then they will have the access to the same “perks”. If you straight up hate the ideas of perks there WILL be a playlist devoid of them, that is pretty much a guarantee.

The way these will add to gameplay is by providing more diversity when you fight people, there may be people a little faster or a little stronger but you will always have something to counter that with, basically you can change perks to your preferred playing style, which sounds kinda awesome to me. Also, this could add a new level of customizability to community made game types. All in all, halo 4 looks great except for the lack of dual wielding :frowning:

Doesn’t sound awesome to me. Sounds like every other damn shooter out there. (pretty much exactly like CoD).

I don’t think that is how it will work. I hope not anyway.

I am very concerned about Perk’s, Halo was about everyone starting equal, this is beginning to seem like AA’s v2 and i for one are extremely concerned.

Ranked (no perks) and Social (perks) = Me buy this game.

But look at Reach’s arena, jetpack and loadouts…

I’ll just leave from these forums.

I don’t think we have enough information right now. I wish 343 had elaborated more.

However, I’m farily sure in the final game “Vanilla Halo” as it were, will have a place.

That being said, I think this addition has great potential for Invasion and Fire Fight. Looking forward to getting more deatils on how it works.

? Its very different than CoD in an interview Frankie said they were not going to copy CoD and battlefield. Calm down, there are different ways perks can be implemented.

I don’t know how halo having perks would make it seem like CoD. I mean every weapon obviously wont 1 shot everyone and I certainly don’t think kill streaks will be added. I think perks are a good idea but saying that nobody can really complain or praise about this feature until more info is given about them.

Someone show hire the guys behind (ie.) Quake and older FPS to make the Halo 4 MP. Even with a new twist they wouldnt’ ever add perks, random weapons timers and loadouts… 343 just missed the meaning of arena MP. This is SO SO SAD.

You want to know why he had to clarify that it’s “not copying CoD”…because it sounds so fing much like it is copying CoD.

people like you shouldnt be able to say anything,i mean you didnt even experienced halo 3…sad

I’m sure there will be play lists where perks aren’t available along with those that are. As for me I’m sure I’ll be playing both styles. Can’t wait!

Not really, as I just said perks can be implemented in a number of ways. The only comparison between CoD and halo 4 is perks and load outs, which are in a lot of shooters now. Also there will most likely be a Vanilla halo playlist. Calm down.

Well they did mention listening to the community in the vidoc by stating how they brought a playlist to make the game behave similar to Halo 1. So maybe they might do that.

Why does every game have to go the COD route with Perks?

Halo used to be great, it had it’s own style in multiplayer, Everyone started equally, the better team came out on top. Then Halo Reach adds perks (Armour abilities) and it starts to go downhill. Frustration and unbalance ensues.

343 should have listened to the long term fans who didn’t like the new route halo was taking. We are the ones playing the game, maybe you should listen to us, we know best as it’s our opinion formed on this game that influences us to purchase any sequels in the future.

I could not agree more with your second sentence. No matter how much 343i are saying they aren’t trying to make Halo 4 like other shooters, it’s clear that they are, conciously or unconciously, trying to make Halo as much like every, single, modern shooter these days, within the boundaries of Halo. Loadouts, perks, sprint as default ability, that is literally what every FPS game has been doing since the success of Call of Duty 4.

They’re trying to do something new with Halo 4. Still, it somehow feels like they are doing a game that plays like every FPS made in the last few years. I can’t dislike the gameplay yet as I haven’t played the game, but I can dislike the lack of originality.

Notice how it says I haven’t played in months? That was a temporary account, also If I hadn’t played halo 3 why would I be sad about the absence of dual wielding?

Next thing you know you can start with the sniper rifle…

Finally somebody gets it! and they should remove the weapons too, because CoD has weapons, so therefore it is pretty much exactly like CoD.

EDIT: and remove online play, because CoD has that too…
