Just a question.
Why is people always saying “ye i have XKD, I m a good Halo Player” blabla. I mean, expected in Slayer and Breakout, in all other gamemode KD is pointless.
When I play in CTF for exemple, you can be at 40KD but if you don’typ lay objectif you gonna lose, and a dude in the other team who constatly die trying to play the objectif and get killed over and over but manage in the end to capture the flag, will win.
So Why is people always taking KD to show “how good I am at Halo” ?
Because it’s the fastest, most readily available indicator of a players’ general skill level.

This. Usually if somebody goes 40-10 in a CTF game there team is going to win, because they are making sure its a 4v3 or 4v2 the entire match. Not always will they win, but it definitely helps. Also, most likely the 40-10 guy can do what the 5-20 objective (flag stealer) player can, but the objective player cant do what the KD player can, obviously…
Well If rank are balanced, a guy in Diamond with 1 KD compared to a guy in Bronze with 3KD, you can’t say that the bronze is better.
Also, many player just camp on CTF to defend their flag, when other rush to death trying to take the objectif. It’s so easy to get kill defense compared to kill offense, and the defender will get higher KD, but it doesn’t mean he is better.
I play many FPS, and Halo is the only one that put KD over Rank in the skills discussions (I agree that thecurrent rank system is a bit broken tho)
I didn’t say it was a perfect indicator, but it’s the best one available at a glance.
