Could anyone please explain me why people care about frame-rate higher than 30? below 30 is totally comprehensible, but above 30 there is basically no difference. (at least to my eyes, IDK about you guys… I mean, the change in frame fidelity is just very little)
http://i.imgur.com/Erm0LJZ.gif ← this one has cpu or maybe web lag
http://i.imgur.com/xnGbDts.gif ← this one doesn’t
I should also mention that most framerate lag comes from the graphics procesor and the cpu and not the actual footage.
Then you’re either blind or your TV is awful.
The difference between 30 and 60 is MASSIVE. 30 actually gives me headaches now, and looks like utter crap. If H5 was 30 I wouldn’t even own it. The myth that human eyes cannot discern framerates higher than 30 is complete rubbish. We can see up to ~150 frames per second.
It’s better why argue just accept it
I don’t care about framerates. I’d rather great game play than great graphics.

Actually this only affects certain motion sensitive people, I discovered this after researching about it a few weeks back. also, the framerate at which we start to get weird effects is 100fps not 150. at 150 these effects would be worse.
also if you dont like 30 what do you do with all movies and tv ??? they all run at 24, not even 30. the most modern movies run at 45 and they cost extra.
60 FPS looks weird as hell to me.
I get that it runs smoother but to me it just makes everything look really uncanny.

You "watch " movies and you “play” games.
The reason why people dislike 30 fps is because it inherently makes the controls feel sluggish and adds frame lag. 24fps is fine for a movie because you are only watching. And part of why 30 fps games suck is because most of the time it isn’t even steady 30fps, it’s usually like 25 fps and that’s absolute horse -Yoink- and part of why I moved to pc 4 years ago for multiplatform games.
What I’m saying is fast paced games feel horrible in 30fps

This is a common misconception that frame rate somehow equates to graphics, when it is entirely not the case. Frame rate is a essential part of any game to make it overall play better, improving performance and making it run smoothly. Low frame rate can make gameplay choppy to the point of which it is not an enjoyable experience and becomes unplayable. When frame rate isn’t considered by game developers, you end up with games like Assassin’s Creed Unity, whose frame rate was notoriously awful and dropped to as low as 15 fps.
Frame rate isn’t just a visual factor in a game, its performance.
As for people who can’t tell the difference between a game running at 30 fps compared to 60 fps, it’s quite drastic. This link shows multiple examples of a variety of games running on both frame rates side by side: http://30vs60.com/
Much better examples than the OP’s.

I wanted to say framerate has not much to do with graphics as it does visual lag, but he was kinda on the side I would like people to be, so I didn’t mention it before, however, in the particular case of halo 5, they built everything on framerate, which means they had to cut down graphics in order to keep framerate more steady.
60 FPS for Halo is absolutely amazing and makes the game run so smooth. If you play Halo at 60 FPS and then go play a game that runs at 30 FPS, it will look like a choppy mess to the point of where it is almost unplayable until your eyes adjust.

Actually if you get debug mode on to see frame-rate, framerates are never steady even on pc. I got cryengine running at 120 but this is the average, it would vary every second about 1 to 10 frames ±. (also I dont know how to control frame-rate myself so it was just the engine itself, not that I like high framerates. As I said before I dont care much after 30). I just cant see much difference between 30 and 60. maybe I just got used to that and adapted by adding frames myself?
60 is fine. Although I noticed that in cutscenes for the MCC were “speedy” and moving too quickly. There’s something. Even Jurassic World had a few moments where motion was too fast because of 60fps shootings. Needs to limit the speed of motion to normal

Jumping from 60 to 59.5 fps is hardly “not steady”. That’s pretty much the definition of steady. That’s like saying cruise control is bad because I dip to 59 mph uphill.
Dropping from 60 to something like 24 frames like you do in Warzone intros is what a drop in fps is. Not losing a half frame periodically.

Yeah I understand that if the framerate is so low you’re imputation to the game will be off time with what the screen is showing but me personally I don’t feel that’s the case with 30 fps. When it comes to games running at 60 fps I see that as a way to just make the game look nicer which is fine as long as they put as much effort into making the game as fun to play as it is to look at.

What’s your standing about 60 fps vs splitscreen? I think 60 fps is just not important enough that the entire engine is built upon it. also now I get why some people want 60 fps, they feel the difference, but I still don’t so… I care much more about gameplay and other aspects. (I primarily care about story but we all know where that went)

Well, cruise control has always been dumb as it can’t truly dynamically adjust speed to whatever you had set. ( I mean when you break the set speed does should decrease, but when bumps and curves cause it… ) (lol, off-topic)
Anyway, I actually hadn’t thought about it, but many map intros are glitching constantly, whether its warzone or arena. some animations lag and move faster or lower. I thought it was internet lag, but now I think those are actually framerate issues. (I mean, generated by my console and not the internet) I can imagine many weird glitches would happen with framerate drops… I would have thought they would be able to better control that. At least it only occurs during non-essential cutscenes.
Also I don’t think you can actually render half frames… or at least shouldn’t as half the screen would be either black or the same repeated image half that was there the previous frame. I’ll admit however, that droping 1 or 2 frames/s is quite steady, even 5, but 10 or more? that is not steady. Anyway we should not go that path as we are starting to discuss stuff about pc gaming, and this is halo we’re talking about. lets not think about pcs for now okay? we’ll have a chance when halo wars 2 comes out.
I used to be the same way, I couldn’t tell the difference between 30fps & 60fps due to me being used to playing games at 30fps & below.
But just over a year ago I starting playing games that were exclusively at 60fps or greater, & a few months ago I tried playing Skyrim on my friend’s 360 & boy did I get a bad headache & got pretty badly nauseas because of the low fps.
I can tell the difference like night and day.
It’s just one of those buzzwords, bro. Halo 5 is also gluten-free.

Exactly. I have a ton of games that can do 60 fps but it is no different than 30. (Even watched a vid with them side by side of the same game, no difference!)
