The guy who did the audio worked for MGS2, MGS3, and MGS4. He was the audio director for MGS4, and helped this game’s audio too!
Seriously though, listen to those sounds. That was on a PS2 back in 2003/2004. Everything was pretty good back then, what’s up with Halo 4’s audio?
Grenades 4 feet away from you sound like they are 50 feet away from you, the BR sounds like it has a silence on it, the Carbine sounds too human, and the sniper sounds really off.
After listening to MGS3 and MGS4, I have more faith in what’s to come but 343i plays this game everyday, and I wonder why they don’t see the sniper and want to change the way it looks/sounds…

I kinda thought the sound for the AR was a bit wrong sounded too much like a heavy machine gun but i realized it sounded ok, the main worry i have is the actual soundtracks

Some people really need to get off their high horse. It’s getting a little old. Just because people dislike something that is new doesn’t mean that they dislike it because it is new.

I am really not pleased with any of the weapon/vehicle audio so far. They all sound horribly off when compared to the other games. I realize they’re trying to make their own game but when you destroy part of what makes a Halo weapon a Halo weapon (or vehicle), you need to take a step back and reevaluate what’s going on. A weapon/vehicle’s audio in a Halo game is part of that object’s character. There aren’t many games were you can sit there and identify everything that’s going on just by the audio. Changing it completely changes/destroys that established character.
Halo 4’s audio sounds friggin’ amazing to me!! And i was using my Beats Studios when watching the gameplay from the MLG players, i believe that Halo 4 is going to be the best Halo release yet, except for Halo 2 IMO. You can’t even judge H4 yet since the game hasn’t come out yet!!! DERP!
I’m just happy that none of it is yet final. Hopefully, the few months left does the audio some good. I particularly dislike the sound of the Sniper Rifle.

agreed, I don’t see why they just don’t cut and paste the Halo CEA sounds and tweak them just a little bit.
