Here’s a great example. I get JiP’d into a game of BTB thats not bad … like 200-170. But suddenly I find we’ve been pinned back at our base on Ragnarok. I’m talking the enemy is camped at mid, at the end of our side lift and its just a DMR fest. I’m thinking well heres a loss for sure.
And then i get an ordinance drop… well hey theres a Sniper Rifle for me. And whats even more hilarious? Another guy on our team gets a Beam Rifle, at the same exact time which i almost grab as it appeared 2 feet from mine. So I watch him creep up the side of our base in camo, and take up a similar position on the opposite side. Before either of us even squeezed off a round the score was something awful like 660-400.
Needless to say between the two of us we wiped the middle of the map clean and then with the rest of the troops took mid and pinned THEM at their base.
Final was something like 1000-830, our victory.
I was on the winning side of this mess and even I don’t think it was fair. Random weapon drops is flat out stupid.

No not really, they were in a bad situation and a random drop of weapons swung that back in there favor. You could look at it as a good thing. But i dont, this is a prime example of why ordnance does not work at all.

No. What would be “fair” would be grabbing the Sniper that spawns inside the base and using that to kill the enemies, but also having teammate drive over to the enemy base on a mongoose to steal their sniper.
It’s not fair that one team gets two snipers while the other team gets two needlers based solely on chance. If one team outplays another and is rewarded with the weapons that have spawned at their location, then that is “fair”.
Sounds more like you’re suggesting camo is broken then ordinance. If you were able to take them out with a couple of snipers, that’s their fault not ordinance. Why didn’t they grab their banshee, why didn’t they storm in with a mantis, why didn’t they use their ordinance? Obviously they were leading, they should have had some power weapons right?
Sounds to me like you joined a game that was down a few teammates, you got a decent weapon and turned the tides.
Not really an example of ordinance being bad, more like the people you played with couldn’t figure out how to beat an evenly matched team.
I think Ordnance is all fair and good. Actually I quite like it at times. But I DO believe that they should have separate game-types. One with and one without ordnance.

But if you’ve already out played them what does it matter where they got the weapon from? The Op stated that him and his team were able to use their skill to push the enemy team back. Even if they’d gotten needlers they’ve already proven that they can out play their opponents.
It doesn’t matter if they have a sniper or not, the more skilled player has won.

Its not really outplaying them when you just happen to get luckier with the ordnance. I mean rockets snipers incarceration cannons are the same as the other team getting a needler, speed boost and grenades…
AAs, Ordnance Drops and everything else will be in Halo 5 and probably additions to them as well.
Does that really matter? No!
Why? Because 343i are introducing CSR and separate play lists for casual and competitive players for Halo 4. And, assuming there is no exploitation and cheating like there was with Halo 3 1-50 ranks, this setup or an improved version of it should launch with Halo 5.
Therefore, there is no need for AAs and Ordnance drops etc to go…they won’t be going despite how much a minority might want them to. The correct and fair thing to do is to cater for both groups and play styles. That means set load-outs, no JIP, no instant respawn, no ODs, no AAs and whatever else the competitive players don’t want in their play lists and everything you could imagine for the causals in their play list.

But they pushed them back without the use of snipers. Snipers came after they were able to gain some ground. That’s skill winning not an ordnance.
It’s not really unfair, since the other team has the same chance as you do to get the same ordinance drops
They just weren’t skilled enough to get/use them when they needed them.

But that push never would have happend if they had not gotten them ordnance so they just got luckier.
I agree with you, the ‘Infinity’ variant is terrible. I can do terrible in Infinity Slayer and still get two freebies, what the hell is the point of that?
I do agree the ordinance is pretty out of hand, but I don’t think it should go all together. I know personally they give out ordinance too frequently. I actually have mastered the “Hall of Death” commendation in less than 150 games. Its too easy for a decent player to get 2-3 ordinance drops in one game. Add that to the pre-distributed ordinance, and you can easily make a walking tank. What 343 should do is make it significantly more difficult to call in ordinance. I believe you need 30 points for the first drop. If they boosted that to 50, then ordinance would spawn in a much more balanced manner.
