Why only one?

If anyone uses Pulse Grenades in MM, they would immediately notice that they carry only one (without Grenadier Armor Mod.) Out of curiosity, why did 343i do this? I’m not complaining, but just a little niche that I find odd. There is only one possible explanation of why they did this that came to my mind:

They were afraid it might slow down gameplay.

Now, lets take a quick look back at Reach (and Reach forums.) Many players were complaining about Armor Lock, and how it ruins gameplay. One note that many players complained was that it slowed it down gameplay (yes I will keep stating gameplay,) and 343i took a big note of that.

Now back to Halo 4. Pulse Grenades have a orange sphere that pops out and stays there for a bit. Now, would you run into it? Naw, many players know to stay out of it. So, here’s where slow gameplay comes in. 343i had noticed that it could do that, block pathways/doorways. And they predicted that players would keep away, and the one they are chasing could keep spamming them into the door way, slowing the chase and gain his shields back.

Now, this is just a theory of why we only get one Pulse Grenade in MM, I’m not saying all of this is true.

Discuss your thoughts on this.

Yeah I’m not entirely sure why honestly. When they spawn on the maps they come in pairs, so I don’t know why you would only have 1 in your loadout.

Now stickies on the other hand, those could be cut to one.

you can walk through a pulse grenade and take less than 25% shield damage (1-shot) as long as it doesn’t explode or implode on you. as to why? no clue other than it is the best way to tear shields off in a head to head battle at close range.

Grenades of any type block doorways, Pulse Grenades are no different, we should have two.

Always found that odd. The weakest grenade and you only get 1.

While I have no idea why that decision was made, I can tell you that I couldn’t resist the urge to date myself and say, “there can only be one!”

343 in a nutshell…

Oh stop being a Negative Nancy. Although I did lol a little when I read that…

Anyway, maybe it’ll get updated in the TU… Pulses aren’t super powerful or anything so who knows why you only get one. Maybe they had 1 to begin with and the grenades were really powerful. Then, before launch they nerfed them and never changed it.

Dude, not cool.

Two Pulse grenades thrown at the same time will automatically kill anyone. Then again Plasma grenades can do that too.

It really was.

Bow down mere mortals, an immortal walks among us looking to do battle!

at least you have a sense of humor.

Why? Just because he wasn’t actually involved in making the game?

This. It’s not HIS fault. Plus I agree with the OP. We need 2 Pulse Grenades. And I play Halo 3 now.

Either that, or they thought it was really useful and that tons of players would flock to it. Which is hilarious, because the pulse grenade is only useful for denying access to a path, and pretty much all kills people get with them are accidental.

I jumped to conclusion so early because you made it look like you were insulting him, not trying to make a joke.

But, that is irrelevant of the topic. What do you think of the Pulse Grenade situation anyways?

Turn Grenadier on + spam Pulse Grenades at people in Dominion = Easy kills

itd be because with 2 pulse grenades you can instakill basically… its alot easier to throw two pulse grenades that both will do instant dmg at the feet of people then it is to do the same with other grenade types… sure u might sticky with a plasma (which is by no means certain the amount of people that miss with both is quite high)… and u can generally run past a frag grenade when its thrown at your feet…

quite a few times ive gotten insant double kills from pulse grenades especially on objective maps using grenadier… which brings me to my next point

if you had two… with grenadier it would be 3… which would be rediculously overpowered in corridors for blocking, instakills and in games like KOTH

Uuuuuuuuuuunless you mod it up!

Everything is better with mods! If only we could have them all :(… No, that wouldn’t be fun actually; never mind :stuck_out_tongue:

You should get two of them.
