Why On Earth...

Would anyone want to remove the announcer’s announcements from multiplayer? It’s one of the staples of Halo multiplayer and I’m shocked that quite a few people have complained about Halo 4’s announcer. He sounds perfectly fine and brings a smile to my face whenever I hear his voice after brutally mowing down ten souls with my Warthog.

Come on…

ROOOOOAAAAADDDDD TRRRRIPPPPPP!

Let me summarize this community on receiving info:

All proceeding posts will follow one of the following

A: Oh wow Cool

B: WTF THIS ISN’T WHAT I ASKED FOR. HALO IS DEAD

C: Can we turn it off?

That’s quite accurate.

What is, Oh wow cool? Johnson quotes for 500

He talks too much.

Also, they removed Flag Captured, Gained The Lead, and Game Over

I agree with you, who are these people thinking they can call our sacred announcer annoying?

Why on Earth make a whole new thread to clog up the front page for a topic that is already being actively discussed in another thread?

Nailed it. It’s sad that the community is like this. Well, some of it. It starts with “I like how they added” to “OMG HALOS DEAD 343 REMOVE IT NOW WE HATE IT” No. Just no.

ADAPT.

As much as I hate saying that. ADAPT

I laughed so hard when I heard ‘Road Trip’ for the first time, I had to rewind the video and watch it again three times.

As for why people want to turn off his voice (or most of his voice), is because he announces almost everything now.

“You have the ball”, Yes thank you, I know Jeff.

“Kill their carrier!”, Already on it bud, but thanks again.

“Protect your flag!”, Ok . . . I know.

etc, etc. He also announces a lot of the little medals that didn’t really need announcing.

Personally, I like the way he says more (with the exception of my top comments), but others don’t want to hear his voice all the time.

I feel that he won’t be quite as annoying when you actually play it. People here just like to complain.

I know I’ll get used to it in a bit. I first couldn’t get over the UT3 announcer but I was fine with it in a few days.

Agreed, and the new Oddball announcements are just extraordinary. “Long Bomb!”, “Nice Catch!”, and so on.

No he does not talk too much. People are just being paranoid. You watch THIS video and tell me how many times you hear his voice out of the whole thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5DTF9bpwAI&feature=player_embedded

Game announcers should never speak in full sentences, especially when those lines are to be used frequently.

How about

Snapshot!

It just sounds like he’s on a sugar high. It’s no real complaint however.

I don’t think anyone wants to completely remove the announcer, just reduce the amount he speaks.

Stuff like “headcase” and “defend your flag” are a bit over the top IMO. But we’ll get used to them.

He announces when you get a headshot against a sprinting enemy. That is talking too much. Imagine what a gametype like SWAT is going to sound like.

> I feel that he won’t be quite as annoying when you actually play it. People here just like to complain.

To be honest sometimes I find myself not even noticing his presence during gameplay. It all just sorta fades away over time.

Would you not expect a game announcer to be similar to a real announcer? Plus according to what you said, you never want to hear when you lose/tie/gain the lead. That’s a sentence whenever he says it. People are just being obnoxious, honestly he could be MUCH worse.
