Let’s face it. GTA is a very popular game. We might pull some of their playerbase to Halo if we made some concessions like using GTA’s driving mechanics. In this day and age, it is pretty much expected that when you get behind the wheel in a game, that you steer the car directly, and not by adjusting the camera to let the car figure out how to go in that direction on its own. It’s an aging mechanic and 343 needs to get with the times. How can Halo stay relevant in today’s gaming market by doing something different?
That’s been the attitude with sprinting. Why stop there?

First off: DUMB.
I and many others don’t want sprint because it’s expected. In fact, I never wanted sprint at all, but I played the beta and feel they finally got sprint right. But keep making a big deal out of it, you got nothing better to do.
Second:
The warthog has dual steering. The front and rear axle are steered. When you are adjusting the camera, as you say, you’re actually steering the rear axle.
The real life warthog built by Weta actually does this. It’s super cool. I don’t play GTA; is there a vehicle with dual steering?

I think my post may have been a bit lost on you. I don’t think changing the warthog mechanics would be very good at all. I’m glad to see that we’re like-minded in never having wanted sprint in the series, but you’ve moved on to accept it, which I cannot do.
However, you are NOT steering the rear axle when you move the camera around. Sit idle in a warthog, then spin the camera so that it’s facing backwards. Now, accelerate straight ahead. The warthog will continually course-correct itself until it is facing the direction you pointed the camera. You’re not directly controlling its steering.
I’m not complaining about that mechanic at all. The feel of the vehicles in Halo is something that should never be messed with. It wouldn’t feel like Halo anymore if they changed it. Just like how it doesn’t feel like Halo anymore now that they’ve changed the player movement mechanics.
Before i go into to telling you how halo is halo and should always be halo and should never be like anyother game ill start by saying GTA has good driving mechanic because of the open world it has to offer. In halo however it is a FPS shooter which constantly has you moving around and looking around to find enemy teammates. In GTA you drive straight for 5 minutes and not have to touch your stick to steer but in halo you are constantly moving around so using the sticks to drive and look make it easier to spot enemy teammates for your gunner to shoot.

Not lost. I get it. It’s what you feel is a clever twist on the tired “Halo copied [insert game here]” “Halo does not need to bee modernized” “343 hates Halo” nonsense.
Fact is, we have no way of knowing if Halo would/n’t have these mechanics if other games did/n’t. Either way the game should be judged on it’s own and not by what other games do. It’s a competitive market and games have to improve. You’re entitled to your opinion on whether or not it is an actual improvement.
And yes, I have accepted sprint, because I feel that they have got it right, so why wouldn’t I? I don’t just accept, I approve. I think you accept that sprint is in H5, but you disapprove, correct? I mean the only alternative is to not accept the change which I think is called denial.
As for the warthog: I understand what you are saying about the controls, you are right, but that’s solely for gameplay purposes. It’s a way to give the player peripheral AND a way to steer the rear axle as well. It’s one of the first things that blew me away in CE. How well done the warthog was and that’s before I even knew about the rear steering.
