Why not make the MP spartan an actual character

After the initial campaign I wouldn’t mind exploring the ring as my MP spartan sometimes. Just saying. There could be a cutscene animation where Chief and your MP spartan walk past each other in some doorway, chief hands or tosses an assault rifle to your MP spartan and bam the camera focus switches to the MP spartan you’re exploring the ring as

Seamless

But you’d need chief only missions where future cutscenes and actual meaty story-telling are involved

Multiplayer spartans are technically canon as of H4

As of h4, multiplayer has existed in the training deck of the infinity. All matches are technically training sims done by spartan 4s on the infinity. With that in mind, all spartans in multiplayer are technically canon.

And even those MP games pre-H4 were supposedly training too but far less attention was given to it.

I hope this is the route they go for and future Campaign DLC. I want a complete story with Chief this time around with a beginning, middle and end.

After the story concludes this would be a nice option.

Hell naw.

This would be boring and just immersion breaking. I don’t want some riggedy random Spartan popping out of nowhere
just because it’s “cool”.

SP/MP should stay clear of each other, now more than ever,
especially since the MP will be F2P and thus basically be it’s own game.

So yeah, my answer’s no - it simply wouldn’t serve any (narrative) purpose.

But it’s not some random spartan, it’s your MP spartan. If customization is going to be emphasized I can see a scenario where I just want to roam as my own spartan. I can’t see chief teabagging a grunt 100 times for no reason-my MP spartan however…

And the cutscene would literally be 5 seconds I don’t get how that cutscene could last long enough to get boring in the first place

I doubt they would do it in the main campaign, but I can imagine them using the world map post-campaign as a Destiny-like hub world, where you can explore as your MP Spartan.

I agree with this hugely. I’ll even take it a step further:

1: There is no reason we shouldn’t be able to customize chief’s armor in the campaign. Bungie and 343 played with it between every game, so clearly it looking the exact same at all times is not priority in the canon.

2: Almost all spartans customize their armor, and sometimes even customize it between missions. It’s somewhat illogical for Chief to be the only spartan who just wears what he is issued.

3: Any player who is uninterested in this feature could easily just play with the default armor, there is no reason their preference of the chief’s default appearance must be forced on everyone.

After we got to use this in the Reach Campaign, I was really hoping it would become standard. I hate Chief’s armor in 4 and 5, and really wished I could change it. Chief’s armor in Infinite looks great and there’s no way they’ll do this kind of fan-service feature for infinite unless they come up with a way to monetize it.

In the past games, customisable spartans in the story have not made the cut for me. They always feel empty and generic (as they are generic and empty) with no personality or backstory.
I would rather see particular spartans with name in the main story, as well as other spartans in the background, same as generic marines. Now, if you would see some times your MP spartan(s) as a random spartan in the world, that would be cool, butdefinitely not a must for me as of today.

Now, if as you say, There is a “new game+” where you play with a custom spartan, this could be cool, but still not a priority for me.

As far as I know, the only past game you’re talking about Is Reach, since as far as I know that’s the only customizable spartan. I really loved that game, because I felt like Noble Six embodied what Chief use to be… an empty shell for you to step into and experience the story. Wouldn’t mind the character being a bit more unique than Noble six, but in Reach I felt like it just made me focus more on the whole amazing cast of characters they had created around you.

I was thinking about ODST as well since the character is also boring and empty. I don’t remember if you could customize it but it felt the same kind of generic.

I would rather play with a character that has some personality

From what em343 says you might as well make the Co-Op player their MP Spartan.

I like this idea, it sounds awesome. I also hope that when you play co-op there will be the host playing as Chief but everyone else will play as their multiplayer Spartan.
