This is something that’s been bugging me for a while now. If you’ve been keeping track of the halo series you’ll notice somethings getting fused with something else or just completely removed from the series all together. Now if 343 really felt some weapon or mechanic didn’t have a place in mm anymore why not just put it in customs. I know not that many people do customs but that’s only because you can’t browse for them (hint hint cough cough wink out loud). All that aside I really do think halo has something amazing waiting to happen with the push of button.
Browsing for custom games in Halo? Uhh no.

Are you kidding?? I think almost everyone on these forums plays customs at least once a week.
If your talking about implemting the ability to browse “public” custom games as a waste of resources then wtf are you talking about? That is the one thing that halo is missing in order to make it the absolute best online shooter ever for the xbox 360.
And also i personally can speak for me and the majority of my 100 friends on xbox that the only thing that is even keeping halo reach alive at all is the ability to take a break from the terrible matchmaking and go into custom games.
Custom games was a great addition to halo 3, but it is basically halo reach’s lifeline

I know, but where I was trying to get at is custom games is not as popular as it should be. The whole not being able to browse custom games is the only thing holding it back.
It isn’t hard to find a friend playing custom games so there isn’t any point of searching for one.
> It isn’t hard to find a friend playing custom games so there isn’t any point of searching for one.
Disagreed. A custom game browser would facilitate a LOT of different things that have been sort of difficult in the past.
A custom game browser would help Forge fanatics promote their maps/gametypes.
A custom game browser would allow users to more easily find a game that fits their taste.
A custom game browser would eliminate the need to send a bunch of party invites to players you don’t know to fill the lobby.
A custom game browser would make it easier to test out new maps and gametypes.
A custom game browser would eliminate the need for match-making to have silly and unneeded playlists.
A custom game browser would be great.

I’m going to assume here that what you’re talking about is keeping things that the development team find obselete in the game but out of matchmaking (e.g. weapon or vehicle) and putting it in customs for all players to use, correct?
If so it does sound like something that would appeal to some players although i can’t imagine it happening unless the community demanded that the specific thing be put into the game because adding things like that would take time to do. In my opinion i just don’t see it happening.
Though i love the idea of browsing for custom games, it is like i said before something the community would have to all simultaneously ask for as there would be time spent implementing a system and time spent keeping it running. As long as people could make their matches private or open for the system then i think it would be really cool.
> It isn’t hard to find a friend playing custom games so there isn’t any point of searching for one.
Oh you must not live in America. See over here were all fat and too lazy to even use our controllers to go into netflix we use kinect for that now. All seriousness though being able to browse custom games would be a really simple and fast way to find games. Plus its not like its gonna stop you from playing with your friends
> > A custom game browser would eliminate the need for match-making to have silly and unneeded playlists.

> This is not a reason i had previously thought of, but it would actually probably be the biggest benefit of having a public custom game search. Matchmaking has far too many playlists. It wouldn’t be a problem if they went back to halo 3’s double exp weekend. I would much rather prefer that, instead of having things like living dead as a permanent “competitive?” playlist.
> Browsing for custom games in Halo? Uhh no.
Halo PC, Halo Custom Edition, and Halo 2 Vista would like to have a word with you.
All three of those titles have Custom Game Browsers in them, and they are HALO.
> It isn’t hard to find a friend playing custom games so there isn’t any point of searching for one.
There’s no point in not having a way to search for them. If you don’t have a lot of friends that play halo on your list, or not many that play customs, or simply you just want a wider range of custom games to choose from, then it’s a good reason to add a way to browse custom games. I’ve never understood why people choose to be selfish and exclude good ideas because they wouldn’t use them.

Yeah I know it would be tough to add stuff like dual wielding and stuff like that into halo 4 at the last minute, but as for adding custom browsing I think it would be fairly easy for 343. Custom games are already in halo 4 we just need a way to look for em. They’ve done stuff like this before in the past like when they added campaign search or the exp ranks in halo 3.
Halo 2 vista…worst pc game ever.
on a side note, the whole point of customs is to play with friends u know. at least it is for me.
Unfortunately, I don’t think you’ll ever see a custom games browser (on console). When Bungie was at the helm, the said it was because it’s existence would negate the whole purpose of matchmaking.

Yeah, but all of Halo 2 Vista’s custom games are “l33t SnipERz aNd TANks On CAoGalasHun”
or 16-player “MLg LokoWt SnipRs FFA TO 500 kils PRO’'s OnLy”
I fear what would befall us if a custom browser had even MORE options for customization!
> Unfortunately, I don’t think you’ll ever see a custom games browser (on console). When Bungie was at the helm, the said it was because it’s existence would negate the whole purpose of matchmaking.
If anything I think that just adds more of a reason to add it. If no one wants to do mm people should have an alternative.

A custom game browser would allow me to more easily grief people, or get booted for being too good (it happens to me all the time, some 12 year old gets mad because I kill him, and I’m booted).
That’s 2 more great ( no sarcasm honestly) reasons.

Yeah… did you ever play Halo PC & Custom Edition’s MP?
Also, I remember the first year or two of H2V’s life, there wasn’t that many servers like that, those have only been popping up after Halo 2 Xbox’s MP was shut down.

Battle Creek Shotties no Shields FTW! God only knows why it isn’t in Action Sack in Reach.
