Why not call it "Firefight"

It’s not a stretch to point out that lots of people don’t like the name ‘Spartan Ops’. It’s rather on-the-nose. Yes, they are Spartans, and they are doing Ops. This name doesn’t hold up to the creativity leaking out of every other facet of Halo 4 that I’ve seen so far.

So why not call it Firefight? Frank O’Connor is on-record having said that ‘SO’ is a suitable replacement for ‘FF’. Sounds like they just improved on Firefight, but if they want to call it something else, there should be some genuine thought behind it.

I don’t know,Firefight wasn’t all that story driven and plus it didn’t have any teamwork involved at all due to all the kills that players want to take up for points. For example, the peeps using fuel rods and jet-packs.

Because it isn’t? I don’t like the name Spartan Ops, but that doesn’t mean it should be called Firefight; something it has nothing to do with.

I think the only similarities it shares with Firefight is the 4 player team.

Well, it was all about team work in ODST, but it was ruined with the infinite ammo and Rocket spawns.

This. Spartan Ops are for the story, beside the story when you’re playing. I don’t recall Firefight really ever connecting with the story. It was more or less just for Commendations and cR to be earned.

or is that just me?

Because it isn’t Firefight. Firefights are where you stay in one spot and hold off waves of enemies. Spartan OPs are supposed missions.

Because its not firefight, people would be terribly confused and could even be seen as false advertising.

because its not FF its like a mini campaign for your Spartan 4 and the FF in reach isnt that bad as long as you play FF limited everything else is to easy

Because firefight refers to two or more sides shooting at each other, which is what the original firefight was. Operations refers to more than just receiving and returning fire, there are actual objectives that must be completed.

SpartanOps (or what I like to call SpOps) is the perfect name. Just because there are so many ignoranuses that think of CoD whenever they hear the word Ops doesnt mean it should change.

This.

i dont know if you have been up to date on spartan op’s but its completely different from firefight for it to be called firefight, its basically its own campaign from what has been said about it, there will be objectives in it, different levels each week, it will be holding a story, nothing like firefight

Because it’s not Firefight.

It needs a better name, but it is distinctly a different idea then Firefight, so it should have its own name.

I honestly don’t have a problem with spartan ops.

These fans are too damn picky.

But as far as firefight for the name? Nope.

It should change because it sounds stupid and is a obvious rip off of the name Spec Ops.

Spartan Ops is just a place holder. Which means that it will most likely have a different name, or they could just leave it the way it is.

Spartan Ops is a second Campaign but for our Spartan IV’s

Spartan Ops is not a placeholder name.

Firefight denotes combat, and I’d like to see some Spartan Ops missions that have little to no combat, and instead focus on stealth or exploration. I’d also like more objective based missions, while “firefight” gives me the impression of “blow up lots of -Yoink- = win”.
