So I constantly see people talking about haters of Halo 5, and I have to say even I’m guilty of this. But I’m going to look at this from a different perspective. I do think people who don’t like Halo 5 have real reasons for it. People complaining about ads, sprint, splitscreen, and anything else have valid arguments. I would like to think everyone who complains about these things, even the ones who do it in an over the top nonsensical way, really strongly believe in their complaints. I don’t think we should call these people 343 haters just because they have an opinion. I don’t think we should call anybody 343 fanboys either because they like what 343 is doing. I think we can all just talk about Halo 5 and share our opinions and all just agree that we all love Halo. Everyone who has complaints about Halo 5 and compliments about Halo 5 most likely just love Halo and are trying to help it survive. So can we stop using the terms hater or fanboy, and just let everybody express their opinions about this upcoming game?
I feel the same, me being indifferent about 343, although the only thing that i do have against 343 is that the number of players has dropped substantially ever since halo 4 and the mcc is more scarcely inhabited that siberia russia, but i hope that they are telling the truth when they say that the mcc was only a small part of their staff and that halo 5 will be good.
Well I dislike halo 5 so much that I am not buying it. With that said, if from halo 5 on it gets more and more run and gun I would rather the franchise die than become hopelessly generic.
I used to love CoD now its dead to me. Same thing could happen with Halo.

This
People keep talking about how great it is that 343 is keeping the franchise going as though it is inherently a good thing. Keeping the franchise going while removing the things that made it great is only keeping it going in name. Halo is not going to last forever. Noting lasts forever. It’s better to let it die while it still retains some dignity than to keep dragging it along through change and revamp to the point where it’s barely recognizable as what it was.

It’s great to have people like you guys on the H5G forums…
While I can deal with legitimate arguments as to why one wouldn’t like Halo 5, saying it copied CoD because of sprint and ADS is very silly.

No, but it is adopting 2 features that are staples of CoD’s gameplay, that greatly change the way halo is played. 343 is clearly trying to cut in on CoD’s market share by appealing to CoD’s fans rather than sticking to halo’s guns. they are essentially selling out persay.

What I don’t understand is how most Halo 5 supporters like sprint but vilify it in Halo 4. Or vilify H4 for being like CoD. I see them as hypocrites plain and simple.

You are right, Reach had less players than 3, but 4 had the worst drop so far.
“It’s not a halo game” , “it’s different from the old halo”, “because halo 5 has sprint it isn’t like the old halo games” these are valid arguments?

Reach was the decline. Halo 4 was the freefall.

Yes… They are… Everyone has valid reasons why they don’t like a game. Halo means something different to everyone. Some people may not propose their argument in a good way, but that does not mean they are a hater. They are someone with an opinion. While I may not agree with them,( believe me, I don’t) I still can’t say their opinion is wrong, I can only argue it in a civilized way.

Your not even going to give the game a chance its not even out yet you never know you might like what 343 has done. when it comes to COD I feel the same its dead but I gave it one last chance before I stopped playing all I’m saying is give Halo a chance

Yes.
Those, as well as arguments against the ADS/Smartscope, arguments against the lack of splitscreen, and arguments against the armor abilities are all valid.
If 343 wanted to release a game that had thruster packs, shooting, aliens, flag capturing, sprinting, vehicle driving, and energy shields, but they called it something other than Halo, I would be 100% for it. Hell, I may even buy it and enjoy it. But by making a game like that and slapping the Halo title on it is nothing more than slapping the Halo brand on something that that doesn’t deserve it. Either re-brand it or strip away the non-Halo elements. Developers are so afraid to try a new I.P. these days. They’ll ride the coattails of an existing franchise long after it has outlasted itself.
By slapping the Halo name onto a game that, at its core, is not Halo, we are that much further from ever having another true Halo game. And that is simply depressing.

How does sprint and ads “Greatly change the way halo is played” its not like people that aim down sights have an advantage over those that don’t. Sprint is just there to make the pace faster. Halo 5 isn’t run and gun, and no one can lone wolf beast anyone easier (even though you could LONE WOLF DESTROY IN THE OLD HALO GAMES ive done it plenty of times in ce, 2 and 3 even though I dont like 3). People arent “Flying around everywhere with thrusters” they give a small boost and once you use it you have to wait to use it again.
People won’t be ground pounding 24/7 it isn’t a viable maneuver and neither is the run and smash.

And yet CoD is “coping” Titanfall but no complaining on their forums. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, the Halo community bickering and complaining will be the death of Halo. Because people can’t accept that a game is evolving into the future to be bigger and better than ever. Its a shame most won’t even give it a chance but yet still complain.

I gave Halo a chance for over a decade. For the majority of that time, it came through with flying colors. I was so impressed with the series that I was a day one, wait-in-line-at midnight adopter of every Halo sequel. H5 is breaking that streak. After H4, and what I’ve seen of H5, I’ve had enough. H5 is a step in the right direction after 4, but not enough. They fooled me once with H4, and they won’t fool me again with H5

I agree, but people are entitled to their opinions, we can try to change them, but in the end it’s their choice what they want to do with their money, also remember its the vocal minority

Um you act as if the old halo multiplayer style was its own thing and it wasn’t trying to be a copy of something else.
Anyone remember unreal tournament 1? You know the game that came out years before halo ce and had the best arena styled combat that everyone even HALO TRIED TO COPY?

I did give it a chance, I played the beta. And it was a bunch of people run and gunning, and kill trading. That was with randoms. The pro’s in the game didnt play much different, just with more skill with shots.
