Why no team doubles?

Seriously, can anyone give me one good reason why this playlist isn’t there? They already made it, and it wouldn’t take long to add Riptide. Yet they took it away again, with no mention as to when it’ll be back. It’s annoying as hell, the playlist is too empty. Just add a couple more permanent ones, and I’ll be happy.

I can’t always find a good team, and often play with randoms. But that just gets frustrating, just went 20-9 and we still lost. Nobody using a mic, everyone running around and getting killed. I was the only one positive, it’s annoying.

But I usually have at least one friend on, so that’s why I like doubles. It’s another option to play, but they took it out for no good reason. Please bring it back 343!

I find it ironic how people who ask for doubles on these forums are usually hounded with “BUT IT HAD TEH LOWWW POPULATIONZ!”

…And then those same posters will run to their nearest “Where is Grifball and Infection???” thread and demand for them to be added to the game immediately. Also ignoring the fact that low population counts in doubles aren’t as problematic as something like Infection or Grifball (which have always suffered from low population). A game of doubles only requires four people.

Long story short, I agree. Add doubles.

Team Doubles is, and always has been, my favorite playlist in Halo. If you want a reason as to why it’s not in the game yet you would have to receive an answer from them, directly, which no one has received. The most educated guess we, as a community, can take is that they aren’t hastily putting out playlists and spreading the community. They want to be 100% certain that when they put a playlist out it works, the community backs it entirely, and it doesn’t spread the players too much.

Here are playlist results by 343, showing the popularity of the playlists over the Holidays:

Holiday Playlist Popularity
By total unique users

  • Warzone - Slayer - Team Arena - SWAT - Big Team Battle - Holiday Social - Warzone Assault - Breakout - Holiday Doubles - Free for AllWhile this may not seem great for the future of Team Doubles you have to remember that a lot of people who received the game for the Holiday’s were more focused on the core playlists like Slayer and Team Arena, a classic favorite of Swat, and the new big playlist, Warzone. I do have a bit of hope because Bravo made a statement in regards to Doubles in the January post. “What types of brand new experiences can we bring to Team Doubles to increase its popularity?” While this doesn’t solidify, or guarantee, that Team Doubles will make a return, it does guarantee that they are looking at numbers, they hear our cry’s, and if they do release Team Doubles they want it to be the best version possible for it.

Hang in there, keep your head up, and know that they do a lot of talking behind the scenes. I have a feeling we’ll see it make a glorious return

It’s already a made gametype! Removing sucks for people who want to play it and can’t for no valid reasons. I dont understand why it can’t remain a permanent playlist.

The reason people aren’t playing Halo 5 is because Doubles, Snipers, and others are not permanent. Why is it so -Yoinking!- hard to understand 343? I picture 343i in a company meeting “we have their money… -Yoink- them”.

I bet we get team doubles this coming weekend for Valentines Day. It seems like the gay cliche thing to do… They will call it “Couples”. Just watch.

Give us more team double oriented maps, such as: Guardian, The Pit, Heretic (we have Truth/Regret), Blackout/Lockout, Turf, etc. Also give us BR starts for doubles. That’s what the competitive scene wants. Pistol starts are nice, but this isn’t anywhere near Halo CE, so give us our BR’s back.
