I know we have a bunch of precision weapons returning in Halo 4, but why is there no needler rifle.
Now I know the carbine and needler rifle are very similar. I myself just like the look, sound and animations of the needler rifle alot more than the carbine.
Just a random thought I had pop into my head. What do you guys think?
Well there is no point in having the Carbine & Needle Rifle when the Needle Rifle was an evolved version of the Carbine.
I prefer the Carbine, especially looking at it so far in Halo 4, it is a monster.
If the needle rifle was to come back in Halo 4, it’d sound like a UNSC weapon anyway because 343i seem to be changing every weapon like that including the needler. I’m undecided which one to choose so I won’t vote. 
Carbine is enough
They should have gone with the needle rifle.
The boring old carbine has had 2 games already, and it doesnt do anything particularly interesting, unlike the NR which does the pink explosion and you can bounce shots off walls.
Seems like they only brought back the carbine for nostalgia reasons, like the BR.

i weasnt talking about bringing them both back.
I would have just prefered the Needler Rifle more. Just a more interesting weapon in my opinion

DMR deserved another crack after reach. Looks like they get it right this time.
Why not bring back both?

Not too sure about bouncing off walls but I’ve seen carbine shots bounce off spartan’s shields in gameplays before.

I wish 343 would do that, at least in Customs.

The dmr owned it in every way unless you spam it as fast as you can to get a explosion.
Which would be a complete noob move.
I don’t see why Halo 4 could just have all the guns we’ve seen in all the Halo games plus new ones. I don’t care if one weapon is identical to the other, I just want every gun back!
I prefer the needle rifle. It’d more precise thant the carbine, and it supercombines. So you can kill with it faster if your having an off day and can’t land a headshot, or you just don’t have the angle for a headshot. Plust I agree with the look/sounds you said OP.
There are times where I don’t want the damn supercombine. I just wanted to headshot an Elite and getting that explosion steals that glorious moment from me.
The explosion sure does come in handy, but I like being a marksmen. A perfectionist. Making my headshots count. If I miss, I have to wait for the needles to detonate.
The Carbine was much more fun to use. Bloom makes the needle rifle kill time slower (excluding supercombine).
With the needle rifle (and hologram) in existence, camo is practically pointless. Likewise, strafing, since I can just make the enemies dance/armor lock.
Finally, there is no glory in instant supercombine. Look at the needler in H2, H3, and Reach. It’s just a killer. Needle rifle is only slightly better. No art, no real dance.
What do I know of art? CE needler, CE plasma pistol, CE pistol, H2 carbine, H2 brute shot, H2 BR. That’s art.

Dude what? It took the same amount of shots to kill with it, plus I actually think it shot faster, its actually slightly above the DMR. But the two are almost the same.
They could have both and I think they should. Have the NR be a 6sk with Reach’s fire rate, because we don’t need everything to be 5sk and because of the chance to super combine.
BR- 4sk
DMR/Carbine- 5sk
NR- 6sk

The dmr is more acurate at longer ranges.
the dmr is more powerful, the needle rifle does half the damage per shot compared to the dmr.
OT:I prefer the carbine.
I want both.
