Frankie now stated that there will be no Dual-Wielding in Halo 4:

But why? Dual-Wielding worked great in Halo 2 and 3. Why not in Halo 4?
Sure, it has been removed because they wanted to create a more balanced gaming experience, but almost everyone wants to see Dual-MP´s and Plasma Rifles back! It adds gameplay possibilities, and in Halo 3 they were very good balanced. They were only effective at very close range.
I know 343 Industries has its reasons to not bring in Dual-Wielding. But people want to have them back since ODST. And there must be a way to balance them so they fit in Halo 4, like making the aim more inaccurate and bigger as soon as you pick up the second weapon.
I just hope that in Halo 5 and 6 they will finally bring back Dual-Wielding in some way.
Eh, im kind of used to not dual-wielding now, but i sort of figured it would come back.
Oh well, not a major loss.
Because it seems like they’re just trying to limit the game to the BR and the BR only.

I’m down with that!

I’m not. So are a lot of people. Counting the people who quit the series when it became that.
No, Duel wielding was bad.
> Because it seems like they’re just trying to limit the game to the BR and the BR only.
Hardly, if they wanted to limit it to the BR they wouldn’t give you loadouts where you don’t have to use the BR. Just because it’s in doesn’t mean they have to use it and duel wielding wouldn’t have an affect anyway, Halo 2 was the game without the AR and that was the one that introduced duel wielding.
I understand you might think it will be the only thing people use but you don’t have to use it, I now I won’t.

Off the topic of ‘its bad, its useless, no one uses it’, it may be due to the lack of dual wieldable weapons in Halo 4, sure, we know a few Covenant weapons are going to be back, as well as the UNSC pistol, but it has been five years since Halo 3, the covenant tech could have changed.
Feels good finally being able to say something canon related and it fits for multiplayer.
I really loved dual weilding, It made awesome screenshots in halo 3. It was also good for custom infection games which inspired creativity in many people.
Because dual-wielding created “half weapons” and ruined the sandbox.
I liked the idea of dual wielding, but weapons were nerfed to the point you HAD to dual wield for them to be effective. I’m not sad to see it go.
Because dual wielding was a gimmick a lot of players didn’t like. They only time people seemed to use dual wielding was when they were forced to. See Halo 2 SMG starts. In Halo 3 I never dual wielded unless I had to, and that was only if I got a crummy gametype. Most of the time I forget the feature even existed.

Where’s the needler fit in all that? I mean… it has to be back, right?

Bah.
Said it before: Removing something that is fun with/for a silly reason is silly.
@The idea of D/W making balance problems: H4 apparently has the largest weapon sandbox to date. There is no way that 343 is going to balance that perfectly. It’s going to be broken out of the starting gate. Might as well have duals in there so people can have some fun instead of -Yoinking!- about how the BR is dominating everything. Again.
From my experiences with dual wielding, it either felt mandatory, or it felt mostly useless.
In Halo 2, Dual wielding felt mandatory if you’re not picking up a BR, or any of the power weapons in the game. The damage was very strong, with distance, and well placed grenades being your only friend for defeating a SMG/PR combo. After the BxR glitch, it felt useless.
In Halo 3, it was only limited to Close Range only. The damage of each weapon was slightly reduced when dual-wielding to make up for the increased ammo. With so much open space, it felt like there was hardly a reason to walk with dual-wielding, since most weapons can kill you outside of it. It’s either I’m running with a BR, or with an AR or a power weapon when available. Other than that, I’d rather walk with a shotgun, or an AR than dual-wield in Halo 3.
I think they want to keep the guns at a more defined place, like Bungie attempted to do with Reach, by making certain weapons the “go-to” weapons for certain distances, with mixed success. By doing so, most weapons don’t end up being ignored due to limitations, and decrease the chance for a dominate gun to take over multiplayer.
I loved dual wielding and was sad to not be able to do that in any game past Halo 3. Some people’s concerns with dual-wielding is that it either made dual-wielding over powerful or made single-wielding very weak forcing one to dual wield. Why don’t we approach this situation logically. Dual wielding, let’s say SMGs, should definitely be more powerful than single-wielding them. But logically, it must be harder to aim with two weapons and the recoil must be more heavy. So make it like that. Make the accuracy less, and recoil higher. Limit the abilities like being able to throw grenades or agility. Maybe you’re slower and can’t jump as high with dual-wielding. In meantime add a feature like a more powerful dual-wielding melee attack. What I’m saying is, it is very possible to balance the positives of dual-wielding with having harsh negatives while also making advantages with single-wielding. I think it should definitely come back in the next Halo
Also, some people seem to have concern that it is useless in long range and thus pointless to have. Are you kidding me? What’s wrong with that? It adds variety. Certain maps are close than others, which may favour dual-wielding. Also, if you find yourself in a larger map but you’re stuck in a close range battle, dual-wielding can help you there. It allows people to be creative. Instead of sticking to the same gun and gun type throughout the game/map, you become more creative in every situation in which you find yourself. I think any feature of an FPS that makes it unique and adds creativity is a good feature
But where dual-wielding can really take off is with the campaign, maybe mixing human weapons with Forerunner weapon, forerunner with covenant, etc. Also, enemies, like elites or any of the forerunner species dual-wielding could add complexity and challenge. It not only has the possibility to add creativity in multiplayer but also in campaign as well
