Why no customization for campaigners?

I wonder if I’m not the only one who wishes Halo 5 had been designed in such a way that people who are more inclined to play the campaign than multiplayer were also given perks, customizations, etc. At the very least it would be nice to be able to use different skins on the guns. Unlocking these things would also be a nice incentive to keep playing the game. I’d sure love to see something like this introduced in an update, but I doubt it would ever happen. It’s all about monetization, I assume, and they must have determined that campaigners aren’t a community worth courting.

In the game I found a shotgun with a different skin, I thought it might transfer to the multiplayer but it didn’t.

That was one of the really cool things about Reach. Your custom character was in the campaign to include the cut scenes. In Reach you were playing your character but in 5 you’re stepping into one of the two teams; wouldn’t be right to customize the MC.

In reach this worked because your character is a nameless spartan that could be anyone. Halo 5 follows the story of John and Locke they have their own armors and making it so it changes to your character will make the campaign feel like you aren’t playing as either.

Reasons that this won’t be done that are completely unrelated to monetisation and “Not supporting campaign fans”:

  • In campaign, guns are picked up and dropped with much greater frequency, so skins are pointless. - Variant weapons are already in the campaign. I found Loathsome Thing and The Answer on my first play through, and I’ve seen Blaze of Glory in Mission 2. - Characters are already established with distinct armour sets, unlike Noble Six, who had no prior exposure and no personality either, allowing him to be customisable. - Campaign characters already have different perks. Chief and Buck have increased melee damage, Fred and Locke have an extra frag, Kelly and Vale are faster, and Linda and Tanaka have enhanced motion trackers. Osiris also has decreased thrust cool down, and Blue team has faster health regen.
