Why no before game map vote?

Doesn’t really need much explanation, i just loved this feature so much in The Master Chief Collection and especially back in Halo 3. I mean really why bother taking this long time feature out?

I’m undecided on the issue, so I won’t vote. I will offer my .02 though.

On one hand, having no control over gametypes can be annoying in some playlists, on the other hand, if they added voting options, then it’s very possible that the playerbase would only select a few maps that are deemed “popular” (And I have had enough of this with Halo 3/Halo 4 getting chosen 8 times out of 10 in the MCC).

No. Of the few games I played in MCC, most of them were Slayer BRs on the same maps and it gets really tiring.

What these guys said.

I think you should be able to vote but only be able to vote to replay new maps so the same map doesn’t get spammed.

I love that there is no voting, and if they do add voting it should just be a vote to veto the current map. Like halo 3

I didn’t think about that, good point.

Because I hate playing the same game mode on the same map over and over.

With how few maps are actually in the game? No. I am still waiting for “21 unique unforged maps at launch”.

I feel as though the way it is now the repetitiveness is far higher than what i have experienced, i have played 70+ games at this point most of which are team slayer and i have only played on Colosseum once. For me personally i can say that after the hundreds of hours i have put into halo 2 / 3 and also a a bit on 4 combined i have always found the voting system never got too repetitive. I can not say this for The Master Chief Collection as i have only just bought my Halo 5 Xbox One so i only played online for about a week before Halo 5’s release and i can’t say you are wrong about H3/4 running most of team slayer but honestly i didn’t find it too be too bad and i did actually play a good verity of maps and game types. I have found relying on the game system to do it is less reliable than just leaving it up to the player base. But with all that said i didnt have much experience in MCC and i wouldn’t be surprised at the critique your giving.

I personally really loved that feature in H3 as well this would be a welcomed addition if you ask me!

Exactly! With the few maps available it really does suck playing Plaza 3 times in a row followed by another double up of some other map i have played far too many times already. I really think at the start of a game with so few maps i would put trust in the player base to choose a nice variety of modes and maps.

I’m on the fence on the one hand no because inevitably it will end up as everyone voting on the same maps all the time but it worked with the other Halos.

You are definitely right on that one, inevitably after this game and it’s maps have set in everyone’s minds people will start to favour maps and whenever any map gets favoured the experience is bound to start diminishing. But like you said i think that most of the other Halo games have succeeded in adding this feature without too much of an over saturation of any specific maps.

Well, there’s definitely pros and cons to voting but I feel like with the map pool already being rather small, it’s probably best for players not to only pick the same maps over and over again.

I don’t think i can agree with you on that one mate sorry but i have just found with such a small map pool the automated system actually ends up doing a worse job than i think the actual players would be doing. I have gotten too many maps far too many times in a row and that seems to be the general consensus. I really do think putting some trust in the players would greatly benefit this early game state.

Nope…

I like the veto method people have been mentioning. But with absolutely no control and with such a small variety I end up playing the same map over and over.

There is no vote because it’s so few maps…

343 must do the same thing Dice do in Battlefield, design 10 maps that works on every multiplayer gameplay mode.

hell nooo! I had to suffer through 20+ matches of Team Slayer BR on Lockdown in MCC because that’s all people wanted to play in the H2A playlist.

I like no voting so people don’t always pick one map because they like it. They all have there strong points, I’ve hated in past Halo’s playing the same map 5 times in a row.

Halo 3 was a veto system so it was at least random, the voting system doesn’t work because you end up playing the same map and gamemode every time. Voting is a terrible idea, Halo 4 multiplayer should have just been called Halo 4 on Haven.
