Why no 4 player split screen?

Please answer my three questions

  1. Is it 100% confirmed no 4 player splitscreen for multiplayer? josh holmes’s tweet was unclear, Right?

  2. If so, why would they do this? What do they have to gain by doing this. They know it would piss off fans, there is nothing 343i or microsoft have to gain by doing this!? 343i isnt stupid, they know what the fans want. i have faith in them. They wouldn’t take out voice acting or music, why? Because there is nothing to gain from it! There is no logical reason. how does taking out 4 players split screen make the game better?! Why did they do this?

  3. How is this next gen?! Last gen offered 4 player split screen, if next gen cant support 4 player then it is weaker than last gen and that is unacceptable! Why is this happening? The whole point of next gen, is that it is supposed to be more powerful than last gen. Why are we taking a step backward? How does it improve gaming?

Because the console can’t handle it, especially with all the new visual effects and the increased framerate.

Also the fact that the 360 could handle 4 player split screen does not mean last gen is more powerful. Halo Reach and Halo 4 didn’t even run in full 720p while in split screen, and Halo 4 especially suffered from extreme framerate drops when doing split screen.

alright, so when running 1 screen I expect Halo 5 to be 1080p 60fps because it’s next gen. And when running 4 player split screen locally, I expect it to be 360p 28FPS. I’m fine with that. We all know and accept that split screen means nerfing.

Just make it 30fps with 4-player.

agreed! there is no excuse except extreme laziness and greed on 343i part!

It’s confirmed as message was clear. However it’s still early enough, that they’ll add it eventually (there were games where split screen has been added post-lauch).

They just don’t consider this priority. Maybe, just like Bungie (who didn’t include any form of split screen in Destiny), they think that majority of fanbase are bunch of lonely nerds who just moved from their parents, have no friends or relationships. For next several months (years maybe) people with families will have to stick with Fifa, Diablo 3, Borderlands (it’s has confirmed 4 player split screen on next gen consoles) and Halo MCC matchmaking (at least “classic” Halo games, as H4 and H2A is basically unplayable, especially with more than 2 people).

Microsoft tried to put spying Kinect into our living rooms, where fee for watching tv/movies was dependent and how many people will Kinect see. Sometimes it’s ridiculous what “progress” means to some people. Right now developers want to impress us with this “next gen” graphics and they know that many people will mostly see 1/2 or 1/4 of intended details (because whatever some “pro-progress” morons are saying, most people will always have friends and families).

However in the end I think we’ll have our split screen back, as this is selling point. When “next gen” rush will fade out, devs will find out that trully successful franchises are those, which let more people to play and that “coop” games which doesn’t have basics, will never be trully successful on consoles (e.g. Battlefield, Titanfall, Destiny, soon Evolve etc.)

I think 4 player split screen is a must. I understand its a dying way of playing nowadays but Halo is known for this. Its a must for long time fans in my opinion.

Fewer and fewer people are playing splitscreen these days. The less people playing ss the harder it is to justify putting the work into making it so the game has 4 player ss.

I honestly say that I see many people split screen in MCC. It’s not as many as in Halo 3 on 360, but this maybe due to fact, that you can play on Xbox One all the profiles can play on just 1 gold subscription. However real reason to justify it is that we’re buying the console to have this feature. If I was just for playing alone, I could put more money on buying high end pc. It’s like with cars: for most time they’re used just by 1 person (driver). However would anyone (even some lonely person) buy a car without 4 seats? Sure some people are buying sports cars with 2 seats, but just 1?

Even people who are now saying that they don’t need split screen will change their mind in future. Eventually they’ll find that they cannot share their hobby with their wives and kids, and that when their friends pay a visit, they cannot play the game, they’re usually playing online. I was ok with lack of split screen in my 20s (in fact, I mostly played on pc back then), but as the time goes it’s bigger and bigger pain in the -Yoink-.

I don’t see his tweet as 100% confirmation. He was replying to a question that asked about 2 player split-screen for the beta, to which the answer was no but it will be in the final. Just becuase he never specifically stated 4-player split screen, doesn’t meant it won’t be present. I think we should hold off on speculation until they actually confirm it either way
