It’s confirmed as message was clear. However it’s still early enough, that they’ll add it eventually (there were games where split screen has been added post-lauch).

They know it would piss off fans, there is nothing 343i or microsoft have to gain by doing this!? 343i isnt stupid, they know what the fans want. i have faith in them. They wouldn’t take out voice acting or music, why? Because there is nothing to gain from it! There is no logical reason. how does taking out 4 players split screen make the game better?! Why did they do this?
They just don’t consider this priority. Maybe, just like Bungie (who didn’t include any form of split screen in Destiny), they think that majority of fanbase are bunch of lonely nerds who just moved from their parents, have no friends or relationships. For next several months (years maybe) people with families will have to stick with Fifa, Diablo 3, Borderlands (it’s has confirmed 4 player split screen on next gen consoles) and Halo MCC matchmaking (at least “classic” Halo games, as H4 and H2A is basically unplayable, especially with more than 2 people).

> 3. How is this next gen?! Last gen offered 4 player split screen, if next gen cant support 4 player then it is weaker than last gen and that is unacceptable! Why is this happening? The whole point of next gen, is that it is supposed to be more powerful than last gen. Why are we taking a step backward? How does it improve gaming?
Microsoft tried to put spying Kinect into our living rooms, where fee for watching tv/movies was dependent and how many people will Kinect see. Sometimes it’s ridiculous what “progress” means to some people. Right now developers want to impress us with this “next gen” graphics and they know that many people will mostly see 1/2 or 1/4 of intended details (because whatever some “pro-progress” morons are saying, most people will always have friends and families).
However in the end I think we’ll have our split screen back, as this is selling point. When “next gen” rush will fade out, devs will find out that trully successful franchises are those, which let more people to play and that “coop” games which doesn’t have basics, will never be trully successful on consoles (e.g. Battlefield, Titanfall, Destiny, soon Evolve etc.)
