Why do a lot of people on here seemingly want the Chief dead in Halo 4 ( or even later in 5 or 6 ) ?? WHY !!! WHY , WHY !!! . Such gratitude for the saviour of mankind .
Personally , I think everyone who posts they want him dead , and/or even writes such a thread Is a Halo noob who has only played since Reach .
Chiefs 44 at most , he’s an genetically augmented super soldier , with multiple , potenetially life DOUBLING augentmentations such as cell regeneration for 1 ! ( we’ve let to even learn exactly how long the life span of a Spartan can actually span out for ! ) .
And Factor in how long he’s spent in Cyro … And then think of Chief as more like 28 years old … MAX !
Chief isnt going to die Noobs ! He’s in he’s PRIME !
And watch when he delivers us from this ‘Ancient Evil’ and saves mankind for a second time ! Then maybe the Halo Jonny come latelys’ will finally * Yoinking * understand just how EPIC John 117 truly is .
51 BR Salute !!!
Bottom line/My personal perspective - You want the chief dead . Don’t even speak to me , we ain’t friends . Go chew on a plasma grenade whilst shooting the Rocket Launcher in a very small box room !!!

I’m probably gonna get a lot of hate for this. But personally I don’t really care if the chief lives or dies, so far he has shown so little personality it’s hard for me to care about him at all. I know that was intentional, Bungie wants the player to feel like they’re the chief. But that just makes him my avatar, the thing connecting me to the game. That’s it. Maybe 343 will change that in this new trilogy, it looks that way so maybe my feelings will change.

Frankie said that they will explore his character more deeply in this trilogy.
The first trilogy was Humanity’s trilogy and humanity needed a hero like him. This trilogy is Chief’s.
I know I’m a stupid romantic … But why can’t Cortana advert rampancy by actually becoming human using some forerunner tech ( the composer ? ) and once Her and the Chief stop this ‘Ancient Evil’ … They retire to a paradise island to live a UNSC funded ( services to mankind ! ) millionaires lifestyle !
Something other than the cliche - Hero dies to save us all - story please .

That is SO awkward. That is what I was on about in my first post.
Because I don’t want master chief to become Mario or Zelda. Each new halo game having to have master chief in it. Master chief is the reason why I play halo. Him And cortana are my favorite aspects to this franchise. But in the end I don’t want them to keep milking those two characters to the point were I start hating them. halo is finally going in the direction I wanted it to go from the beginning making master chief into more of a character. After halo 6 I want his story to be done I want to look back 30 years from then and say, yes he was and still is my favorite video game character of all time.

This isn’t hate , but I’m sorry , have you actually played through Halo 1 , 2 , and 3 ??
To say that the Chief has shown so little personality suggests you haven’t ! The Chief has shown BAGS !
How he felt about Keyes fate
How he cares deeply about the marines ( especially Johnson )
How he goes back for Cortana .
How he’s ready all though out the trilogy to give his life us all .
Then there’s the Halo novels .
Chief has a BIG personality actually . Not an opinion , a fact !
I just want a fitting conclusion to his story. If that means he dies heroically or rides off into the sunset that’s fine, it just needs to work. I don’t want to see him again after Halo 6.

That’s a good point and well said .
But Does he have to die to exit the Haloverse ???
Like so many Sci-fi universes … Ripley , Obi wan , Yoda , John Sheppard , Neo .
Can 343 Please be different ? That’s what I’m saying .

He didn’t really do anything when Keyes died, if I remember correctly. He has done nothing in game to show he cares about the marines, the fact that you can shoot and kill them does not help. He goes back for Cortana because she has important information. He may have had other motives but I don’t know that for sure. He’s trained to give his life, that’s what soldiers do. I haven’t read much of the novels but I’m talking about in game.
