I think Mint Blitz puts it well in the below video. The summary is the game is left wanting in multiple areas and the lack of communication, transparency, and methodical triaging of issues in a timely manner is the root cause for player attrition.
Some of the key points Mint talked about:
- Halo Infinite was released under the “live service” banner but has output no new substantial content since release.
- Spawns - vehicles and weapons - need balancing. (Vehicles for BTB and weapons apply universally.)
- There’s no faith in the anti-cheat and manual reports are tedious and don’t feel worth the effort when the cheater can create another account in a fraction of the time.
- Attempts to address matchmaking issues in low density regions introduced stability issues for those players on all platforms.
- The lack of community driven content - i.e. Forge - inhibits a core player base which help drive community engagement/growth
All of this leaves players from all aspects of Multiplayer wanting in some crucial aspect. Paired with the lack of communication and consequently lack of rapport with the community Player’s faith/hope is being sapped and resulting in player attrition.
