Why most people aren't having fun

I think Mint Blitz puts it well in the below video. The summary is the game is left wanting in multiple areas and the lack of communication, transparency, and methodical triaging of issues in a timely manner is the root cause for player attrition.

Some of the key points Mint talked about:

  • Halo Infinite was released under the “live service” banner but has output no new substantial content since release.
  • Spawns - vehicles and weapons - need balancing. (Vehicles for BTB and weapons apply universally.)
  • There’s no faith in the anti-cheat and manual reports are tedious and don’t feel worth the effort when the cheater can create another account in a fraction of the time.
  • Attempts to address matchmaking issues in low density regions introduced stability issues for those players on all platforms.
  • The lack of community driven content - i.e. Forge - inhibits a core player base which help drive community engagement/growth

All of this leaves players from all aspects of Multiplayer wanting in some crucial aspect. Paired with the lack of communication and consequently lack of rapport with the community Player’s faith/hope is being sapped and resulting in player attrition.

I’m having fun. I mostly just play to try and get good clips for montage ideas I have, or analysis videos.

It’s the first halo in the series where it really feels like you can get good clips with any weapon. I’ve even got some that involve weapons people hate or are underwhelming to use like the Ravager and disruptor.

Every time I’m about to get tired of the game I get an overkill with the sentinel beam or something hilarious and it pulls me back in.

Most people apparently aren’t in it for the actual gameplay if they don’t see the potential. What we need more than anything is more maps and game modes.

I’m having fun, I think most people playing the game are having “fun” but my main issue is the lack of customisable options, maps and selection.

You could argue “wtf - there is big team, ranked, FFA, and TS. What’s not fun?!”

Well. I don’t like big team and I don’t like not having a radar, so that puts me into the 4v4 gametypes only: quick play for objective (and slayer), TS for slayer, and fiesta. That’s 3 playable game modes.

Furthermore - behemoth and launch site are BTB maps. They’re too big. ESPECIALLY for 4V4 objective. Slayer seems fine (until you get tanks, wraiths, wasps, etc).

Then there are the maps….there are not enough. I’ve racked up a significant number of games and the maps are now stale.

Then there is progression, I’m maxed out on the BP and tenrai. Did I mention I hate swat? Well now I have to play it for skins or a weekly reward.

How many times have I levelled up after 100 on the battlepass? What do I get for that? Nothing. My swaps are spent and I have 3 months to wait for something else.

Did I mention custom games are broken? Try shield vampirism in a gametype, save it, then load it up again and see what happens

No forge - I can’t even focus on a community map.

Even if I could - there is no postgame lobby so I can’t summon players from close games into something DIFFERENT.

Honestly. I’m having fun. Just not enough.

Same old 343i. Still haven’t forgiven them for the launch state of the MCC, lack of support from halo 4 and 5, and I have no doubt halo infinite will remain the same for the next 9 months…by which point this game will be utterly pointless. Not going to attack anyone individually but how does a studio of 300+ people not understand what the problems are.

Robustly testing for robustyness isn’t good enough. Every single F2P game on the market offers more than this. Gameplay is solid, but it’s like racing an F1 car on a figure 8 track over and over and over and over and over and over and over

I got to SR150 and had 3 assassinations. I turned that junk off ASAP. Last thing I needed was people stealing my kills or being killed whilst in the animation. One quick back smack is all you need.

It’s an “FPS” where shooting a gun is an afterthought. Given the game a chance for 3 months now and it just isn’t a fun game. Dominated by CQC with way too much emphasis on grenades (that seem to be neverending) and an absurdly powerful melee. What a shame that they put so much into this and it was so close to being great only to blow it. Maybe I’ll try again in 6 months and see if it improves. Won’t hold my breath

I think most people who are still playing it are the people who actually enjoy it. I can’t help but feel that it’s rather erroneous to say that no one is enjoying it.

In 6 months we will still be waiting for new maps and a ranked team slayer mode.
343 should be fired from Halo, let someone else make the game, why not Betsheda.

It mixed the wrong things instead of the right ones

The gameplay is fun, but then the desync issue is the number one killjoy for me. Nothing like landing a melee hit first with sound cue and all, then my opponent walks away unscathed.

It could be confirmation bias, but lately, I have not been experiencing it as much.

I’m having fun with the Multiplayer minus the Desync issues that’s just so annoying, so far my annoyance is I’m tired of playing the same maps & lack of content which is slowly driving starting to lose my enjoyability to keep playing, having no word or update on the Road Map so far is I’m starting to lose patience

It’s an arena shooter with a rechargeable shield. Melee and grenades are meant to be solid otherwise you would have COD with shields.

Don’t bother coming back in 6 months, these mechanics have been core to the gameplay since inception and is one of the reasons it is so highly regarded
