Infinite has nice gameplay and works decently well but why isn’t anyone having fun? Well my take is people infinite doesn’t have what people want to have fun. Some people like to forge, make custom games, or play firefight. With so little to do in infinite people get bored and some force themselves to play for a small slice of fun.
Example: in halo 5 i always had the most fun when assassinating other players i had recorded 1.2k assassination medals. there were so many assassinations to choose from and use it was always just fun and now in infinite i dont have it and I’m forced out of my favorite play style. People are missing there favorite niche of halo and have lost a reason to play for fun
That is not the EXACT reason most of us are pissed. As a Halo community member that actually bought the game to have in my physical collection, I am super pissed that the game was released with a small fraction of what Halo games should come with, No doubt. BUT most of us are furious and flabbergasted that the game has so many bugs and upsetting surprises that nearly make the game unplayable (unenjoyable) for most fans out there. Is not the missing content per say, but rather the blatant broken catastrophe that is the “game” itself. . . It can be fun and enjoyable, but not everyone is having that experience. And since SO many people are having problems its not just peoples internet connection or hardware. Its the games design and programming itself to some extent…
I’m impartial to bugs honestly but i can see why its frustrating. I’m just really bored with the game i don’t have in infinite what i usually love to do in game
I fully agree! No disagreement there. Content is a major factor. To release the Halo game without CO-OP campaign, Forge, or Custom games was a very big disrespect to the community in my eyes.
I’m hoping by season 2 we will at the very least get forge in a “finished” state and expanded custom games + a browser i can wait for assassinations
That’s what they said anyway. All remaining material is supposed to drop in May.
Even so, I doubt I’ll ever forgive 343 for their heresy this time… They’ve been doing the Halo story dirty since they got the reigns but with Infinites release they went next level blasphemy.
For me, it’s how trash the maps are. ALL of the maps are 3 lanes with a middle split. Every single map you can go left, right, or straight, with a middle intersection area. Every single one. The maps might all look different, and have a small variety of height differences, but at the end of the day, every single map is played on flat ground with a split fork road.

Bungie maps NEVER suffered this. Every Bungie map felt like a completely new location, had unique mazes of paths, with multiple floors of height, and all kinds of closed off rooms to collide with an enemy in. Every Bungie map was a multifloor maze.
Every 343 map is a 3 lane intersection with only 1 1/2 levels of height, since the only floors off the ground are open bridge areas. The maps are all congested with player traffic, and BTB maps are impossible to drive and fly in. 343 sucks at map design. All maps feel the same and get stale very fast.
Live Fire and Bazaar are the only decent maps in Infinite, and Recharge is almost good, but these maps can’t support many game modes. Streets would be a lot better if you could go inside the buildings like Reach, and it had more back alleys and a subway tunnel underground. 343 clearly didn’t design these maps to support every game mode, and definitely didn’t leave any room for variation in gameplay, strategy, or flanking.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I swear 343 cannot make good maps. They can only make generic Arena maps.
Actually Launch Site doesn’t follow the split fork lanes like the other maps, and everyone hates it. Probably due to having one man cannon. A second man cannon would make it a better map I guess, and if the side that currently has the man cannon had a 2nd floor height, but then it would be a 3 lane map with route mazes, and several buildings of height, so it would actually be a pretty decent map. 343 almost made a good map, and then didn’t.
I agree here a big part of my strategy in previous titles to get assassinations was flanking the enemy i could usually be able to gauge where they were off of my teammates deaths or my death and flank them but now there is very little in variation of pathways to flank the enemy also i have a much harder time tracking my enemies movements
As someone that loves Assassinations, and even went the Venator Wetwork path in Halo 4, I’m glad someone else agrees the maps are awful for strategy and flanking. I can’t jump from the 3rd floor and assassinate, I can’t see someone go down a tunnel and cut them off, I can’t see someone in a building and sneak up behind them, there’s just no variation in the maps and no variation in gameplay, so it just gets painfully stale after 500 matches. That’s another reason I miss jetpack, because it influenced the game developers to make multiple height floors.
As well as the maps i find knowing where my teammates died much more difficult in previous games there was a giant red X now it’s so small and blue i can’t tell very often if they are alive or not. I had a much easier time in H5 tracking my team and enemy’s based off of death markers so i knew which path to take to flank
That’s another thing, with the lack of paths and the massive player congestion, you’re a lot more likely to run into a different enemy before getting to where your teammate died, and the enemy is not likely to stay in the same area long, due to player traffic cycling. You run into enemies way too frequently, and players tend to stick together in squads now, due to this issue. It’s now just a loop around the map with a squad instead of splitting up in the maze. 343 ruined the flow of the game by limiting player choices
idk about you but I like my Halo without challenges so I don’t have to roll my eyes so hard I go blind when I see my teammate throwing the match so he can get his last 2 kills with a weapon but goes 1 and 15.
I like how Halo 3 plays…
I like how Halo 5 plays…
Infinite is none of that but an unholy mix of the two
Yeah i have noticed alot that 2 to 3 people will be back to back while another somehow spawned behind you and gets the jump in the fight
I’m also somewhat impartial to the bugs. I have a degree of patience.
But I do agree that the content is starting to wear a bit thin. I would have thought we would have a few more modes and maps added by now.
Don’t get me wrong. I like the maps we have now. They play well. I get that they are a little generic in terms of game flow (3 lanes etc) - but I guess they had to play it safe with maps that work well across all the game modes we currently have.
I don’t think it would / should be that hard to recycle a couple of Halo 5 maps to throw in the mix. You know they will work reasonably well with sprint and slide. And you could easily disable grapple shot on them for now.
Or take a map and mix it up a bit. Take Bazaar and close off a couple of routes. Open up something new. Change the time of day or weather. A bit like in Halo 5 where you had Empire and Eden - essentially the same map but with different flow to them.
A few of H5 maps would probably work extremely well like “Plaza” there were so many paths + hiding spots probably a community favorite too
Honestly, since Halo Infinite is built on top of Halo 5, and uses the same file types, I’m kind of annoyed that 343 doesn’t just drag and drop armor and maps from 5, then add weapon pads and objective spawn locations. They should be close enough done with Forge by now to be able to place some markers on imported Halo 5 maps. They don’t even need to remove Grapple, since Grapple would be very cool on the Warzone maps if they added them to BTB. A lot of Halo 5 maps would be fun with Grapple.
Probably need to scale down some of the WZ maps a bit but im certain as well they would work out extremely well with the 3 base format (2 armory) (1 mid base) along with the several paths WZ maps provided for foot traffic
I can understand the desire to scale the massive Warzone maps a bit down to fit a more natural BTB sized map, but at the same time, please 343, for the love of Halo, stop making trenches, I cannot drive Scorpions and Warthogs anywhere. Scaling the maps down might bring that same issue of claustrophobic paths and congestion. I’d take wide open massive maps any day
Im not sure what that WZ snow map was called but that one would work out extremely well for infinite 12v12 btb mode
