Why loadouts are a good thing.

In Halo 3 loadouts were Gametype and Map dependent. In Halo 4 we are able to customize our loadouts.

In Halo 3 I sucked hard at using the BR. Something never really clicked and I was worthless with it. I was however very good at using an assault rifle to take down almost anyone. On maps that I was forced to start with a BR I made my team lose. When I had an AR I made my team win.

Now in Halo 4 they let me choose what gun I want to start with. I am no longer terrible at the BR/DMR as I was in 3 but sometimes I like playing the AR game.

Some parts of the loadouts need to be fixed/balanced but I for one am glad that they are here and hope they continue in future Halos

They CAN work, but not right now. Now with the horrible imbalance that the DMR, Boltshot and Plasma Grenades create.

No disrespect but because you sucked at the game using what everyone else spawned with , you now want to spawn with load outs that ruin Halo . Again no disrespect here but if you sucked you should have got better. It sounds like your a casual gamer if you couldn’t use the BR which is fine but it sucks because 343I’s paid almost no attention to the old Halo fans and the competitive community. You have your way of loadouts we are only just getting ours.

I think this really is the case right now, parts of the load out system needs some balancing and adjusting. My eyes are glaring at Ammo and Dexterity (far more powerful than a silly old bolt shot in my opinion). I think once 343i makes some adjustments to the system many people will begin to respect it.

Or ya know just hate it and stick to pro game modes.

i like loadouts except the boltshot

Everyone being able to spawn with a DMR/Boltshot/PV/Camo is not a good thing

If loadouts are staying, you should only be able to choose your primary weapon. If AA stays, then that’s the only other thing you choose.

No perks.
Default frags.
Default Magnum.
No Camo.
No Jetpack.

That’s the only way loadouts will work for Halo.

Personally, I don’t see them having a place to begin with.

same, I agree

Agree. Virtually all of the balance problems that Halo 4 currently has are the result of letting people spawn with stuff they shouldn’t spawn with. They took a sandbox that has been refined over a decade as an arena game sandbox and then flipped it on its head as a sort of class based CoD style shooter. There was a reason active camo in Halo 2 and 3 was one use only, one per map and spawned on a fairly long respawn timer. Plus when the emp effect was added to the plasma pistol they spawned 1 or 2 on the whole map. Now we have entire teams of 8 people spawning with them and it’s ruining vehicles. Same with plasma grenades. Think the boltshot is a problem? It wouldn’t be if there were only 1 or 2 laying on opposite sides of the map with medium spawn timers.

I think you forgot the plasma pistol.

“When I joined the Combat Evolved, we didn’t have any fancy-schmanzy loadouts. We had sticks! Two sticks, and a power-up for the whole platoon—and we had to share the power-up! Buck up, boy, you are one very lucky marine!”

That made me laugh. And My Plasma Rifle froze people!

I have considered your opinion on the matter…

Bingo.

No but seriously, if they removed half the weapons and abilities available in loadouts they would be fine. Oh, and remove perks while you are at it…

I disliked AR starts in Halo 3 and Reach. But to each their own.
I can deal with DMR’s, Boltshots, Camo, blah blah blah whatever the current thing being hated on is as long as I get to always spawn with a precision weapon from now on.

And OP, in Halo 3 BR starts always had a AR secondary except for mlg.

The loadouts are fine, but…

  1. Just add more bloom to the DMR.
  2. Add a bit of power to the Boltshot (normal shots) and that the overcharge takes 10 of ammo (not the default 5).
  3. Make that you spawn with only one Plasma Grenade.
  4. Make that you spawn with two Pulse Grenades (only one is sad).
  5. Put a Armor mod that all the people who use Camo doesn’t jam the radar.

Ta-da! Fair.

OP no one is mad that you can choose to start with an AR or BR or DMR

People are mad that we have cod perks which removed what was once default (picking up nades, people not seeing you through walls, guns not spazzing everytime you are shot, turrets used to never over heat, vehicles were once not made of paper)

Its mostly the perks and AA’s(which many feel woudl be better as map pickups liek equipment) that people are mad at loadouts. Not weapon selection.

Yep. I’d probably fail horribly if I was forced to use the BR. I’m a DMR/LightRifle person.

I would suggest Team Doubles, the Pro variant. This seems like it would fit perfectly from what you’re expecting. Only differences are: Grenades and weapons spawn on the map. Ordnance spawns on the map with a indicator and is set on timers (just like classic Halo in a sense).

Loadouts are:

DMR/Magnum
BR/Magnum
Carbine/Magnum
LR/Magnum

I can’t remember off the top of my head what else was there (perks wise, I’m sure it was dexterity and resupply, not 100% on that though…), but yeah. Check it out and see if its what you were expecting.
