I’m a fairly new Halo player and one of the first game types I tried when nervously venturing into matchmaking was Living Dead. I’m sure there are many who hate it or consider it an undisciplined/no skill type game but it was what got me into trying other gametypes. I found it to be a great warm up for a noob due to the fact that you never really “lose” per say and because you aren’t on a team in the traditional sense you never feel like your rookie skills are bringing down the others you’re playing with. Also the rounds tend to be fairly quick which is nice when you’re getting your feet wet!
It was much better on Halo 3 when you didnt end up on maps that wern’t even built for infection. (Uncaged?)
Haven’t played it on Halo 3, I may have to give it a go. What playlist is it under?

IIRC Living Dead in Halo 3 is only available on certain weekends, as a “DoublEXPWeekend” playlist. Otherwise, it’s inaccessible. It also wasn’t all that it’s hyped up to be: the H3LD maps were built for Infection, but they weren’t built well.
Anyway, it’s good to hear you like the playlist. If you ever encounter problems with it, or if you have suggestions for it, there’s an official Living Dead feedback thread in the Matchmaking section of the forums.
I remember when I first started out with matchmaking, Living Dead was one of those playlists that I frequented. Granted, it certainly isn’t the same as other playlists, as it doesn’t teach you some of the other stuff in playing with a team (or even on your own), but it is definitely a fun playlist that helps people get comfortable with playing online with other people!
Living Dead, imo, is a horrible playlist. Even for ‘getting your feet wet’.
Team Slayer, Big Team Battle, and Rumble Pit are were the new comers should start.
