FEET FIRST!
So Warzone is kind of an FPS MOBA. It’s pretty much the best way to describe it. The origin of last hitting a boss and getting all of the points comes from MOBAs. If you steal a boss you get all of it’s bonuses and empower your team. The problem with Halo 5’s execution of it is that, in a MOBA you don’t directly gain points to winning the game.
You can screw up your advantage by either getting overconfident or just not using it properly, you just don’t get to destroy an enemy tower for free because you killed X boss.
When you last hit baron in League of legends, it doesn’t mean you just flat out won the game, it means you’ve got a buff and now you’ve got a teammate most likely trapped by the enemy. Unless you’re Lee Sin and you can just ! into the pit, smite and ward hop back over the wall throwing up the middle finger.
The point is, that in a a MOBA if you kill a boss it doesn’t assure victory, while in Halo a game can be needed with you killing a boss. While early bosses still allow of comebacks, it still puts you 15% ahead of your enemy. Which means you’re 15% resistance to defeat and 15% more likely to win even if all you did was fire a BR while the enemy team was reloading.
I’ve done it as well, just spawned into a game, saw Tank Master Rok was being attacked by half the enemy team with a banshee, and I shot him 3 times with my AR for the steal while the banshee was turning around. This happened recently, too I might even be able to get the game up as well.
SOLUTION!
So instead of making a comeback harder how about making the game flow better like a traditional MOBA.
When you kill a boss instead of getting a flat amount of points you get a buff. A buff that helps you close out the game but can be easily used against you.
Examples
If you kill Tank Master Rok, tanks cost half their reqs. If you kill Captain Hestro, you’re teammates all get speed boosts until they die. If you kill Warden Eternal you get faster spawns for a certain time.
All of these can be used well if given to the right player but still go horribly wrong, as things tend to do in traditional MOBAs. Just because you have the power to end the game, it doesn’t mean that you can do so by blindly charging, the skill is still there.
Minor bosses too could get these buffs, like the Zealot Assassin, giving faster assassination animations along with legendary bosses giving less points about 50. A point system that still rewards you for killing the boss but points that don’t make or break the game.
This change could also make more fights lean towards the core as well seeing as bases would be easier to capture while buffed. I can’t be hte only one that hates it when Palmer says that we can still destroy the enemy core when you’re losing the game. The reason why that so stupid is because, you need to capture all three bases, to do so and if you’re losing, it’s probably because you didn’t do that.
P.S.
The ranking system resetting is actually for the best. Not because it is in League of Legends but because you can’t drop a a tier below. Once you get to Diamond, you can’t fall to platinum. Not only have many people gotten lucky and trapped in a League they can’t fight in but it aslo keeps highly skilled players on their toes, constantly fighting for their rank.
Sorry for any errors, just woke up and got my daily wins and felt I should make this post. Going to get breakfast. If you find any errors point them out so I can edit.
