Why? Just why?

Why, now, of all times are you guys whining about a RANKING SYSTEM in a VIDEO GAME. Is it really that impossible to enjoy a game… a series of amazing games… without having a little number or insignia next to your name?

I find this ridiculous. Absolutely immature. And, quite frankly, horrendous behaviour on part of the Halo community. You are embarrassing what was once an amazing community with your spoiled demands. You are, in conclusion, making us Halo fans look like something we are not. And you should all be extremely and utterly dissapointed in yourselves. You are no better than those players who drive Warthogs with passengers off cliffs, no better than those who scream into their microphones… no better than what you describe the Call of Duty community as.

And I would say something witty like, “preorder cancelled”. But quite frankly, this attitude the gaming community has embraced is… just… wrong.

post this in the other threads that make up 90% of the front page please.

I wholeheartedly agree of this stupidity, and I approve this thread.

Makes me wish that it was still the 90s, when gaming wasn’t represented by -Yoinks!-.

The threads whining about the people whining are just as bad, stop adding to it.

Yeah man. Just let them vent. They’re just talking to each other anyway.

Well, how does adding a true skill value to the game HURT it? I mean actually hurt it, not 343’s clear reasoning.

If that’s how we enjoy the game, why not include it. It honestly does more good than harm.

You obviously don’t know why most people want a real ranking system. It’s NOT just to have a number next to your name to make you feel good. It’s meant for measuring your skill compared to other people (which k/d, BPR and progression do NOT do) and having a reason to actually try and win instead of just giving up and quitting when you’re losing.

Again, why would you need motivation to play a video game? You can still try and WIN. You don’t need that “rank” to get your satisfaction. Gamers, I swear, are becoming TOO entitled.

QFT…

Maybe I’ll gain a lot of Hate with this, but, the Only reason I played Halo 3 is because I liked the Game. I did never understood very well its Ranking System that well. Can someone explain me what’s the Invisible Ranking System? I mean, it’s there, it is just Invisible. You should be proud of yourself… other people will never take the minimun care about which number is with your gamertag.

You earn something, you can see it, that’s why is invisible people… In the real life, when you make something, the only way to make people know about it is by sharing it, you don’t need any numbers…

I was happy with Halo: Reach ranking system. I was happy with Halo 3 ranking system. And I’ll be happy with Halo 4 ranking system. The reason I play Halo its not because a number. Its because I like the gameplay. At the end, no matter what, you won’t see any numbers while you’re playing. And that’s why a game is made for. To have Fun with it. No to see numbers all day Long on the Pre-Matchmaking or Post-Mathmaking lobby.

I wish the gaming community still shared this ideal. Playing games to have fun.

It still bothers me that some people in the community don’t understand that fun is subjective. If you have read any of the other threads discussing the issue, many people explain how a ranking system added to their enjoyment of the game.

Contrary to your belief, people like to play the game differently to you.

Don’t even worry about that. There will always be people that play to have fun time. If these people hate the new Ranking system that much, they won’t even buy the game, so we won’t have any problem with them.
