Why Just Matchmaking!?

So I was looking through my achievements I haven’t obtained and I thought, “My god how am I going to get these!?” I thought this because a lot of achievements are just matchmaking. Some people I know and I think that matchmaking achievements should also be available in custom games. Like who’s gonna be able to get 8-16 people together just so they can get an achievement done? It’s highly unlikely. So what I’m saying is, the harder matchmaking achievements should also be available in Custom Games. An example could be “Protect This House” or “Sight Seeing” in the Castle DLC. Both would be and kinda are hard to get. Like with “Sight Seeing” you need to go onto every Castle DLC map in matchmaking. Well that playlist is being taken down and I know in regular matchmaking even, I haven’t seen every map.

So what I’m basically saying is, make some achievements done in matchmaking also available in Halo 4. It would help the players and make things easier. I mean I want a challenge, but not something that is near impossible or beyond my control.

Are you serious?

Going into custom and boost the achievement with one guest in the other team?
The motivation to get this achievements will drop to 0.
It is actually an ACHIEVEMENT, so you should have to do something for it to show others “hey, I got it”

You dont have to do them.

What a bad idea imo.

It’s called an achievement for a reason. Granted due to how 343 dropped the ball on handling DLC maps the chevos are harder to earn then probably predicted.

But that doesn’t mean we should let people boost them in customs. That takes away incentive. I still don’t have 2 for 1 in halo 3. Halo 4 has regular rotating DLC playlists which is plenty of time to earn them. And considering most playlists don’t have a party size limit you could boost them anyway by making a full party and hopping into said playlist.

Otherwise earn them the normal way.

As stated, I think you need to research the definition of “Achievement”. You are openly saying that you only think they should be available in customs so they can be boosted.

Coming in to this thread I was expecting you to say “c’mon me and my friends only play customs”, but no, you’re saying its too hard to get 8-16 players together to boost them online…

Halo 3 and Halo: Reach had some pretty ridiculous Achievements, but Halo 4’s DLC Achievements are definitely the worst.

Honestly, I think Sight Seeing (complete a match in any mode for each Castle map) is one of the most reasonable out of all of them. It rewards the player for accomplishing a task (though not difficult–I said it was reasonable, not perfect), and doesn’t encourage any anti-teamwork or unsportsmanship like Protect This House does.

To your point, if Achievements were able to be earned in Custom matches, they would be way too easy to boost and therefore cease to be Achievements.

Dear maroyasha,

you obviously did not catch the meaning of the “achievement” system until now, there seems to be a misunderstanding.

“Achievements” are not there so you are able to effortless collect them all (so they are not a form of “collectibles” coming with the purchase of the game, that you are entitled to get, no matter the circumstances), but they are decorations or awards that are given to the player for performing special, often extraordinary and sometimes quite difficult tasks connected with the game, predominantly performed ingame.

The meaning of achievements is therefore, to document the capability and determination of a player to perform such extraordinary tasks.

While there are certain situations in which boosting achievements is legitimate from my point of view, a general “licence” for effortless unlocking of achievements should never be issued, as this would completely pervert the meaning of “achievements” as we know them today.

If they were possible in customs I think a lot of people would boost them and they wouldn’t then really be an ‘achievement’.

This is not a good idea in my opinion.

Yeah, as if now the achievements are not boosted. They are purely unlocked of course.

That would just defeat the purpose of “Achievement”, now wouldn’t it?

We gamers must work to get them. Not cheat our way.
