Why Just Marines?

I am a huge fan of halo wars - infact its the game ive clocked the most hours on ever so I am really wanting HW2 to be successful.

An issue I have is why only marines or their brute alternative can pick up resources or capture points?

Part of the fun of HW1 was sending out your warthog/ghost to steal enemy crates. I hope this changes in the other game modes - as at present you are forced to build marines - trying to take a domination point is slow as you run your troops over.

I’m guessing it’s for game balance. In HW1 multiplayer infantry units were kinda pointless, everyone just built Warthogs, Scorpions or air units.

Well it seem the Jackrabbit has taken the role of the HW1 Warthog, and that can collect resources.

Yeah probably

I’d agree with this, the only time I saw troops used successfully in HW1 would be early in games using flamers to take out the Covie leader who would always come at your base and in the later stages of a game a friend of mine would call in tons of ODST’s to slow down an enemy army.

At least now they really do have a purpose and can stand a have a good fight!

Also it is really fast, it is not so tough

Ohh you guys have never suffered an elephant rush then. -Yoink- was brutal. Man I loved playing as cutter.
But essentially you rush them with a full pop of elephants and as they kill them off you have the other elephants start producing ODST’s it turns this vehicle rush into a ODST/Flamer rush which was actually kinda hard to deal with. and pretty devistating. if you keep 1 or two elephants in the back out of sight you can keep having more come in.
Spammability was key with infantry.

Look at how many of my ODST’s survived (and i guess a few died… LOL)

I loved ODST and cutter was my go to choice - nothing beat a fully upgraded mac decimating a full group of grizzly tanks.

I also like the new focus on infantry - I just think that other units should be able to capture points in domination - and that warthogs etc should be able to pick up resources.

But they can not capture points in Domination. You need infantry for that which is frustrating.

You don’t need a specific building to create either unit though. You can build both marines and jackrabbits from the home base directly.

Isn’t there an upgrade for Jackrabbits that allows them to cap?

Most likely done due to balance.

Allows them to weaponize. I don’t know if there is an upgrade beyond that.

Gotta say its a tactic I never thought to try but it sounds pretty devastating!

Your making me wanna jump on HW1 and try this out on some legendary AI

Elephant rush was easy to counter - I thought - especially as the arbiter
