That’s because 343 is messing up badly with these things.
Campaign, co-op, and multiplayer gameplay is pretty solid. But the whole matchmaking setup?

The difference is time vs skill. Do you really want to cheat for time or say you play a outlandish amount of halo to the point its embarrassing no. So ya the timed ranks are not really bragging ranks. Now your k/d, collection of certain medals, and wins are a different story
I can imagine the progressive rank is going to be exactly the same as Halo Reach’s, but never once have I ever been sent a message for a high level account, or ever heard of anyone getting a message for one for that matter either.

oh my people bragged so hard over rank in halo reach.
Addressing your central point here, I do actually support showing true-skill. I mean I’m not a competitive player, but I found the whole progressing through skill and seeing the number raise thing fun. Sure it was a little busted, but I believe it can still have a place in future Halo. To be fair to everyone, I think it should be added in, just not effecting the current progression system. So the people that don’t want to be involved, don’t have to be while able to unlock everything.
Though, that is my opinion(I know it’s unnecessary to reassure everyone that, but believe me some people make it necessary) If 343i don’t see it that way, they can just say “That foolish Sergeant Novak, we can’t have that idea up in here.” 343’s game, 343’s rules. You just got a hope some of them up there have some similar ideology to you.
> We aren’t going to stop until we get our ranking system!
You mean your bragging number to be shown. The system is there you will get matched up based on skill. And should that not matter more than a stupid number?
The logic behind these moves is absent. Boosting? How many people boosted in Reach’s Arena? No one. How many people stood still and were rewarded for it? Everyone. Hell, I got a hefty amount of cR for standing still in 77 Infection games one week.
343i is built out of casual gamers who don’t understand the necessity of a ranking system.

No one is entitled. We pay $60 fricken dollars for this game even though the very last major Halo title sucked bad.
Halo 2 and 3 were great because of rank. The competitive community deserves them for sticking around with Halo for 10+ years.
Even just a single playlist. Anything. But we get nothing while every other crowd seems satisfied.
> Haha yeah, why do people need to see their progressive rank anyway? After all, it’s just ‘two pixels next to their name’.
In all honesty, I don’t think a lot of people would care about that either, I think most of the people who aren’t complaining only care about the unlockables.

Thank you sir!! All we have been asking for.
We don’t necessarily want 1-50 or Arena back. We just want SOMETHING. Everyone can keep their progressive ranking system, and adjacent playlists. I have nothing against that.
Most of us are really sounding like SPOILED little kids, throwing a fit and crying about not getting what they want. While 343 plays the parents, giving us many things we asked for and MORE. But we still want to whine about something else. Its a very typical attitude of gamers now in days which I believe makes a developers job very hard. Its never possible to make a game that appeals to everyone. There will always be a crying baby banging their fists on the ground for something else.
