Why isn't Sprint working in Halo 5?

I’ve just about given up on this problem in Halo 5 because Sprint is very important to this game and my style of playing requires it! In Halo 4 when the Sprint command is given, the animation changes so that one’s player is holding a weapon down, and one can easily see the speed change so that one can better judge this change. But now, in Halo 5, there is obviously no changes at all. And I’m seeing this no matter if I’m using the standard controller or the Elite controller!

I’ve posted queries here on the forums and spent over an hour on the Microsoft technical chat line and no one has been able to solve the problem! And here on the forums I’ve begged for anyone to tell me exactly what happens when the Sprint command is given. Does the animation actually change in any way? Is the speed change seeable? And so far, and after practically begging for this information, I’ve still not received any viable information from any forum members as to what Sprint looks like in Halo 5!

So can anyone describe the visual mechanics that occur when the Sprint command is used, and whether or not you see the speed increase one is supposed to? At this point I don’t know what else I can do!

Thanx in advanced

Well it seems that not even ONE Halo player that visits these forums can describe what exactly occurs when the sprint command is given in Halo 5! Instead complaining about 343 and other things are more important to most of you instead. And not only does this make the forums useless as far as solving problems go, but also says something about the people who do post here. They are as useless as the forums are! What a shame it is too!

I’m not entire sure what your problem is, but I’ll try to help you as best I can. What exactly about sprint is troubling you?

Your problem is assuming that any of us saw this, those bickering just drowned it out, besides, this might be better suited for halo 5: guardians support, as that seems to be what you’re looking for.

What happens when you click forward on the left stick? (default settings) Well, your weapon is lowered and moves back and forth with your arms as you sprint. The reticle for whatever weapon you’re holding is replaced by a much larger reticle. This reticle is used, I suppose, for Spartan-charging an opponent, although it really doesn’t seem necessary to me. Also, a faint wind effect is seen on the edges of the screen as you sprint.

uh bump?

What the…
Maybe your sprint button is broken on your controller?
Idk what you’re really asking for. If you want to see the animation look up some you tube game play.

Not sure if you really need help or just trolling…

Nom?

Are you asking “how do you know you’re sprinting?” because that what it sounds like.
Do you want them to pant like a dog like they do in Cod?

What are you asking about?

Arms start moving back and forth from 1st person view (the person who is sprinting). From another spartan’s point of view the person sprinting is moving their arms and has blue jets (I guess that’s what those are) coming out of the back of their armor. You can also hear the jet sound if you are close enough to the spartan. Those are the only animations I can think of off the top of my head. Hope this helps!

There is a motion blur effect, different hand positioning and an altered cross hair for spartan charge while sprinting…

I know when I’m sprinting in H5. How can you not? Sorry OP you make no sense

What’s the problem?

Finally! A useful replay! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked this question and gotten back nothing more than simple “It’s working” replies. I wanted the description so I could compare what everyone else was getting, and that they were simply assuming that Sprint was working! I even spent an hour with the Microsoft chat and couldn’t get a straight answer! When I use the Sprint command NOTHING happens in either the standard controller or the Elite. My stance doesn’t change, my weapon isn’t lowered, and there is no visible speed change! I really don’t know what to do since Microsoft isn’t helping. And it must be an internal problem since both controllers have the exact problem but work properly in Halo Reach! Any ideas?

Wow, that’s rough man. If you’ve already talked to Microsoft and they don’t have any ideas, you might be stuck. Have you tried changing your controller layout to a different one?

I tried every combination that is provided under the game alone as well as with he Extra controls provided by the accessory software used by the Elite. Everything else works perfectly except Sprint! I’m going crazy cause not having Sprint is like not being able to Melee. Its at least that important to my play style! Even being a programmer myself I can’t figure out what might cause something like this. You would think Microsoft would know though!

Are you holding it down or tapping it?

So are you sure you’re pressing the right button? Because there is definitely a noticeable change and effects when sprinting

I’m going to go ahead and chalk this one up as user error. I have a feeling the hardware isn’t the problem.

Maybe you’re pressing the wrong button for sprint? Check your control scheme.
