Why isn't Halo popular?

Why do so many people hate Halo? I don’t understand. I’ve played it all my life and personally have many things to say to reinforce this statement, but maybe someone can help me understand this better

Generally people who don’t like a game for one reason or another are a lot more vocal about it than the people who don’t have any problems or like the game. Especially on these forums, hating on Halo 5 in particular seems to be the flavor of the month. Normally it dies down a little bit as times goes on.

Yep. Mostly these people that hate Halo either come from CoD or they just don’t like the changes 343 made with it. Personally, I like it. And I think they shouldn’t complain about it because they’re used to the classic Halos…this is the future, after all. But it’s their decision to get use to the new changes or no. So…“Evolve or die”.

I blame the YouTube “Gaming” channels with a random guy talinkg about his "Expertise"in “Gaming” and all the “Gamers” who trust in his “Reviews”…

(Dr. Evil gestures)

This is a phenomena that plagues any continuous franchise. With each new installment of the game people get more opinionated on how the formula used to work vs. how it works now vs. how it should work in a perfect hypothetical world. Everybody thinks they’re a professional game designer. Everybody thinks they know what’s best for the game. Worst of all, everybody thinks that dissent is heresy. When did it become more fun to criticize a game than to play it???

I found Halo Reach to be the perfect Halo game. It had everything and despite the addition of armor abilities it felt like Halo. I’m not an insane fan of the new changes to Halo 5, I love clamber as it essential is just a way of saving people time instead of having to crouch jump but I feel the thruster packs are a bit much. I still love the game though and still feel like I am playing Halo.

What are you talking about?.. People do NOT hate Halo there is a huge fanbase, where did you hear people hate Halo? Halo 4 wasn’t the greatest and had the shortest lifespan but that doesn’t mean people hate Halo… I’m so confused Halo 5 has been pretty successful so far don’t know what you’re talking about, and there have been nothing but positive reviews for this Guardians. Hell, people even loved Halo Wars and Halo 3: ODST, there are minor flaws with Halo 5.

In my experience Halo is popular, not hated. Where are you getting this from?

Not to point fingers to any specific gaming franchise, but I think the rising popularity of Call of Duty has a lot to do with it. All of kids in my school who love COD hate Halo (or really any game that isn’t COD. I heard a kid talking about how Black Ops 2 is the best game ever made) despite never playing it. I don’t know why this is, but there seems to be a correlation of COD lovers and Halo haters.

I understand this, and you’ll have to forgive me if I offended you, but this isn’t a big picture question really. This is a more personal question as I am basing this only off of the people who have told me they hate Halo or have committed acts that would prove such. I’m well aware that Halo is one of, if not the, leading franchise on Xbox, as it was more advertised than almost any other game on the marketplace, including CoD. But to also reinforce what I’m hearing a lot of, it would seem that CoD players (which a good bit of my friends consist of) don’t appreciate the game and therefore have stated that they “hate it”. Obviously Halo is amazing beyond words, but these are veteran CoD players, as I’m sure you’re a veteran Halo player. It’s like Star Wars vs. Star Trek all over again

No, I’m sorry my emotions got the best of me but, I agree with you most COD Veterans don’t really care much for Halo.

Haha it’s fine man. I love your passion. It’s inspiring.

Halo is still popular among gamers, from what I see at least.

I’m going to blame Girl Scouts because, they set up their cookie stands in front of different video game stores and the perspective shoppers were dissuaded by their cookies. Once they had purchased five or six boxes , they were hooked and we will never see our Spartan brother or sister’s again. They ara chasing the cookie dragon!
