Its been on my mind a while, and now that iv’e watched this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKGhoJ1mgQY&feature=relmfu
I feel like Halo is shying away from its true potential. It is a Sci-Fi but it does not have to look as colorful as it is now. Look at this (the song sucks) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-huDrDiMwJU
I feel like Halo story is mature. The game just does not look mature. I cant describe it well but I think Halo should focus on making realistic and gritty environments while having colorful weaponry (Bullets,Lazers,Missles,Etc), vehicles (Covenant, Human, Brute, Etc), and armor. It would awesome if they could change Halo 4 to this style. This does not mean give up the beautiful landscapes and fields, but it does mean when firefights begin on them the are not beautiful any more. I wanna hear why the opposition opposes so

Ughh and the nedler. That gun just ticks me off.
You want Halo to be all grey and boring like Reach was.
No thanks.
I can’t wait for a new colour palette

That’s your opinion. Personally, I love that song.
There is no such thing as “mature” looking game. Making Halo more serious would be the worst thing to happen to it, it would lost a part what makes it so unique. I don’t care if some adolescent whose preception of mature includes only different shades of gray and excessive amounts of blood and gore doesn’t want to play the game simply because it doesn’t make them feel manly.
Honestly, I could care less if someone calls Halo childish due to it having a bright and colurful look to it. That’s their opinion and it only shows how twisted their perception of maturity is. I want a game with a great story and beautiful environments, and such things are only achieved with a color pallette that includeds more than different shades of grey and brown.
So, no thank you. I want to play a beautifully colored game that actually utilizes colors well. In case people want to play a less colorful Halo, I am sure their television has a setting that allows them to turn down all the colors from the game. But in no case should Halo have as boring color scheme as shooters these days have, to appeal to the audience who thinks colorless and gritty equals mature.
Hell no. If we wanted the generic brown and gray shooter, we’d play one of the thousands of war shooters on the market. Halo’s color is what makes it unique.
No. Back to Bright Red and Bright Blue. None of that faded Old Navy nonsense.

This x1,000,000
Halo: Reach went for a gritty feel and in the end it just looked like the disk. Grey and boring. I despise the color palette for Reach and I hope to never see such garbage again.
Because the storyline isn’t about that. Halo CE-3 is about the higher, overarching threat to all life. It may be a fight for survival but it is a fight of massive proportions, the individuals do not matter as much, they can be grieved for after the war is over. When you say gritty, you are already ignoring what the Spartans stand for.
They are supposed to be the best, they don’t get tired, they don’t fall apart. They stand above everything, almost like gods. And gods should not be covered in dirt and rubbish.
The storyline does not lend itself to that colour scheme in summary, nor do the characters. Badasses get full colour.

Master Chief in Halo CE, 2 and 3 was the action hero type and larger than life.
Reach offered weaklings with touchy feely crap, a depressing and dull atmosphere, bad gameplay and terrible framerate hitches throughout.
Bungie wanted to try something different with Reach and sadly the result diverged greatly from what made the original trilogy popular and successful.
I don’t consider Reach in the same league as the Halo trilogy.
I want to die.
Because its a bloody space opera, not another generic military shooter. Halo is one of the few shooters out there that dares to look different, establishing color and vibrancy that achieve true emotional response. Then you can look at something like Killzone 2 or Gears of War, games with extremely uninteresting art and no emotional peaks or dips, just a flat, lifeless palette of destruction and “grit”.
Reach was gritty and hideous and Halo 3 was colorful, shiny, and beautiful. I want Halo 4 to look like Halo 3 in that regard. As for the Needler, Mr Thread Bumper, if you don’t like it, don’t use it.

There’s nothing wrong with characters showing emotion. Reach was just too cliched and not written as well as it could have been. A lot of deaths were forced and unneeded to.
Noooo!! Haven’t you seen Alien? It was predominantly sci-fi with a hint of gritty. Sci-fi should dominate. Gritty elements should be subtle.
Why does every damn game have to look gritty?
Because the games aren’t like the books.
We have enough gritty shooters.
Halo has always sort of had a childish appeal to it, it’s cartoony, silly, over the top, and that’s why it can be so fun. Why take that away?

I agree with this guy. I want vivid colours. That was part of the reason I loved Halo 3.
