WHY ISN'T HALO 4 ADVERTISING AS MUCH?

I am worried that not enough people, by the time the game comes out, will know about halo 4 i mean other games do their advertising on huge boards where around my street and i see borderlands 2 every where, everyday. If halo 4 is supposed to out-do every other game by sales or by choice it all comes down to how many people know it. I have a couple of friends, they love halo multi-player but they didn’t KNOW ABOUT HALO 4. COD, with all do respect is dominating because it is talked about and when people don’t know about the better thing, they go to the closest thing. Just saying if Halo 4 is to be the best YOU HAVE TO HAVE MASS ADVERTISING LITERALLY EVERYWHERE…just saying. Trying for the halo fans out there who don’t know about, i hope the best halo game SO FAR. i want halo 5 to be better and halo 6 to be better and so on.

Well I got a big poster of halo 4 in the Nederlands as special event

But its true I don’t see any advertising in Holland.

Two words: Late October.

I do hope they get some trailers out.

Forget exactly how long before it came out I saw them, but there were Reach trailers everywhere on TV. Deliver Hope, the normal trailer, something where this Spartan is checking out his helmet in a mirror…

I haven’t seen any adverts for many big games this year, only Resident Evil 6, no Borderlands, no Call of Duty, no nothing.

I remember the Halo 4 ad during a football game earlier this year.

A game doesn’t need ‘mass advertising’ you know.

Is jsut like 343 are people with marketing,i watch a lot of TV and havent see any Halo trailer on it,also youtube, the only way i can know news of Halo 4 is:Going to PC or going to Waypoint on Xbox

Isn’t Forward unto Dawn suppose to be the major part of the marketing campaign?

The thing with advertising is that it’s most effective when you can get people to see your product and then go purchase it. You can’t really do that with video games. People tend to forget about ads soon after. I’m willing to guess (at least this is what I would do) that they are waiting for Forward Unto Dawn to come out and then advertise that. Cause it’s something people can see and immediately go and watch. Then they have the first week’s show that will probably have a good cliff hanger and make people want to watch more, which in turn will keep halo 4 fresh in their minds. You can’t really have that same effect with a billboard. Halo is a huge part of microsoft, they aren’t going to just let it play out however it plays out. I’m sure they’ve got people a lot smarter than you and I working on this. Let them handle it.

Halo needs no advertisement.

COD is a multi-platfrom FPS so it’s going to out sell H4 regardless.

Besides that advertising is expensive and not always effective. It is critical to decide when and where money will be spent on advertising, businesses could lose loads of money if they were to advertise to early and right now it is way to early for 343i to be advertising H4.

There is an entire month gap, if they advertised now people would forget about the game by the time it came out.
Most likely you will see adds way late October.

I agree- where are all the cool adds. Hell Halo 3 even had RADIO commercials here in Bakersfield California.

I’m sure we’ll start to see commercials soon now that the release date is getting closer.

AC3 has been though. And on a youtube video I saw an ad for "Halo 4 New Footage"and when you click it it takes you to the Assassins Creed 3 channel…

You have to understand that Borderlands is out, of course they are going to be advertising it. Halo 4 is still over a month from release. You never see tons of commercials for any game over a month before release. I haven’t seen any Blops 2 commercials or ads either.

And as for your friends, they obviously aren’t into Halo as much as you think if they don’t even know it exists.

EDIT: Although 343 and Microsoft’s marketing is absolute garbage. When Black Ops 2’s multiplayer was shown off, it was advertised on every single gaming site and even Microsoft was at Gamescom 2012 to reveal it. The reveal trailer has over 8,000,000 views on YouTube. They also have plenty of high quality gameplay commentaries out there.

Now look at Halo 4. Halo has no “multiplayer blowout” trailer. No ads on Gamespot for big multiplayer reveals. All we get is crap quality, off-camera videos that get a few thousand views. 343 should have given us a high quality video from the start that had dev commentaries and what-not instead of purposely forcing us to watch crappy “leaks” and making us figure out all of the new features on our own.

I agree. The name itself, much like CoD, will sell itself. On top of that with the release of Halo 4: Foward Unto Dawn as well as the likely marketing buildup to launch, I wouldn’t be too concerned.

I’d be surprised if they weren’t doing some sort of marketing campaign like “Believe.” I doubt it was exclusively a Bungie tactic to advertise all their games.

it’s October, the Marketing “wheels” are starting to turn, it’s not like a flip of a switch and there is marketing ads EVERYWHERE, things take time to roll out, FUD is one form of marketing, it goes up on Youtube, people watch it, and they see Halo 4 all of the damn place. There’s an TV spot ad that should be poping up soon on TV, but it also has to compete for time with a 10000000 other ads that are mostly pointless moronic ads.

You have magazines that are coming that also have ads in them for Halo 4, retail stores that sells games has ads for Halo 4.

Pepsi is coming out with Halo 4 Mountain Dew, which will be released next week or so.

And then there’s one last form of marketing that is old as time. And that is WORD OF MOUTH! Your friends don’t know about Halo 4? Well it’s your own damn fault for not telling them! Not 343i’s, you should be the one to tell your friends about Halo 4, not 343i.

Three words: Forward Unto Dawn

Well let’s see what’s a better idea: spending money on advertisements, or spending money on improving the game?

And Jesus -Yoinking!- Christ, stop comparing to COD to Halo! They aren’t the same, they will nowhere be near the same!
