Why isn't CSR displayed in-game?

Just curious as to why they have to make things so complicated and not display the CSR in-game, like next to your name or on your service record. It would make the thing seem like it’s actually there if we can just view it in game. I understand wanting more views for the website, but c’mon man.

If they already discussed the rationale behind not putting in-game, can someone just link me there?

there is no reason its because they want to force you to use waypoint any other reason they give you is BS

It’s possible that they simply can’t display it in game due to the game’s limitations.

I don’t have a link but apparently 343 is unable to alter the games UI to put visible CSR ranks in the game.

I’m glad that skill ranks are back in Halo. Before CSR was replaced I probably played Halo 4 twice in the month of March but since the release I’ve been on pretty regularly. On the other hand I am upset that the ranks aren’t visible though. Its not because I have to view it online because during the Halo 2/Halo 3 days I was constantly on Bungie.net as I played checking stats etc so its no different now. What bothers me is the whole not being able to include it in game due to the UI. That just shows a lack of effort in mulitplayer design.

What I mean by that is if you guys remember when 343 announced the mutilplayer modes for H4 they revealed that a big change was made to CTF. They designed it so that once the enemy flag was picked up it could not be dropped. This was a seen as a drastic change to the CTF gameplay because it eliminated flag juggling strategy which allowed a person to run the flag a lot more quickly. It also meant that a player with a power weapon would be more inclined to avoid picking up the flag because they then could not drop it to use the power weapon if it was needed. One of the multiplayer designers said that 343 had the ability to overt back to the classic CTF settings if there was a demand for it. In this instance 343 gave themselves an out, some wiggle room to try something new. In the case of the ranking system, 343 not giving themselves the ability to at least add in game skill ranks somewhere down the line after the game’s release just shows that they did not really intend on adding ranks or at least skill ranks in the mulitplayer.

This is why.

> This is why.

And budget cuts

Quinn I believe hinted at the possibility of in game CSR in Halo 5 > It just depends on how the community reacts to CSR now.

The UI is total crap as it stands, we could use a TU to fix it. H4= Form over Function, Reach = Function over Form. It looks nice but it can’t even display proper party details. Reach’s UI was the best yet, wish it would’ve been carried over.

I think CSR was left out because not everyone wanted it. So why not appeal to both Casual and Competitive.

I’m no game designer, but I don’t understand how Bethesda could fit Skyrim all in one disk, and 343 can’t even place a couple of pixels next to your name in a update???
