After the Xbox Games Showcase, prominent 343 employees went on Twitter to ask us what we thought of the demo. Unyshek even asked what questions we have for him. Overwhelmingly, people have expressed disappointment and have been asking questions about the graphics.
There’s been no communication outside of the Waypoint blog post that says ray tracing will come at a later date and that flighting is possibly cancelled. Why even ask us about our questions and opinions if they’re just going to be ignored?
Please 343, drop the facade and communicate about the state of the game. Tell us where it is in development, what improvements we can expect, what features will be implemented, why certain decisions were made. The silence on this issue is not doing the game any favors and will only hurt it.
Likely because the past 2 days have been the weekend, lot of people have probably been taking some time to chill after dealing with the lead up to the event. I’m sure once they’re ready to talk more about things we’ve seen they’ll do that - potentially in the Community Update that should be out this week

I think they’ve been pretty clear. They’re working in the middle of a pandemic to get a game out for the launch of a brand new console in what is likely less than four months. They can’t answer every single question that comes out, and they can’t fix every single thing immediately. Everyone seems to be putting the graphics under a microscope when my biggest takeaway from it was how fluid the gameplay looked. Graphics can be fixed, and as stated, ray tracing will become available as soon as possible.
The state of the game seems pretty clear - on track for a Holiday 2020 release. Improvements will come naturally as they always do. Decisions were made because they were most likely mandated by Microsoft to stick to a certain schedule regardless of the state of things.
I think they’ve done the best they can all considering, and anyone with a pitchfork and torch after the demo needs to take a chill pill. There’s still plenty left to come.
