…well driving double kill.
I love BTB, mostly because vehicles make it different. I love being the wheelman and consider myself pretty good at it. But with personal ordnance and power weapons spawning all over the place, the odds of an enemy blowing you up fast is very high.
Also, being able to spawn with plasma pistol and plasma grenades is ridiculous (as far as vehicles are concerned). The way maps are designed it pretty much forces you to get close to enemy players, and even at full speed its so easy to plasma pistol a warthog.
Let’s not even mention how much damage the DMR does to vehicles. Why is this??
TL;DR
- please make the warthog have much more hp and do a little more damage
- let operator class make you completely immune to EMP
- turn the warthog into a power weapon again, not a free double kill

I feel sorry for vehicle users on the new maps. They have it the worse especially the Mantis drivers.
I do agree that the Hog should have more resistance to damage. Even when using the Wheelman skill from the Operator specialization, the Hog drops fast. It’s the staple vehicle of the UNSC. It should be the spearhead in an attack, not staying in the back trying to avoid the fight for fear of being shredded in seconds.
I was playing CE yesterday and I was so stoked when I remembered how invincible the WH is. I’m not saying the thing needs scorpion armor but the MG definitely needs tweaking, and it does need some more DR.

You do realize that the Mantis is the strongest in regards to defense right?
I did a test in Forge yesterday with the damage dealt capped out. The Mantis took the most punished before getting blown up to Narnia.

In my opinion, I think the Mantis has plenty of defense, perhaps a bit too much.
I don’t think the DMR should do as much damage to the Mantis as it does, but I think that for the DMR and all vehicles.
Anyone else have a thought?

I feel like the Scorpion on Exile has it the worst, by far. That thing usually blows up about 1.5 seconds after the driver gets in it, and it starts to inch forward ever so slowly. Get that thing out of there and give Red Team a Gauss Hog nearer their base, instead.
Have you ever tried plasma pistoling a ghost that was boosting?
The shot will literally lock on to it and follow it half-way across the map.
Spawning with the plasma pistol alone is ridiculous, but the homing on it is insane.

You didn’t spawn with stickies and power weapons in Halo 3. Vehicles couldn’t be destroyed by bullets either.
I could get running riots on a warthog easily.

Getting power weapons is easy, but inconsistent and random. You won’t always have a rocket launcher available or know where to obtain one, so vehicles do have to be somewhat weak.
Well to be fair, vehicles respawn pretty fast. It wouldnt be fair if you were invincible unless someone hit you with a rocket launcher, then just jump back in when it respawns 3 mins later and destroy more enemies with it.
Guys look at today’s equivalent to the warthog, Humvee, Land Rover’s etc if you end up in the middle of infantry you are -Yoinked!-.
That said it should not take as much damage as it does from guns like the DMR, a well placed high calibre round from a sniper rifle on the other hand should deal significant damage but I’ve not really tested that, but spamming it with the BR/DMR should not really yield results if the weapons were properly balanced.
The warthog should be 15% stronger and its mounted AA gun should get a significant buff imo - will 343 sort it, probably not…

That said, I agree that sniper fire is fine and standard weapons need to be less effective.
Aside from the other unbalanced aspects of multiplayer, 343i seemed to try and give players the ability to take out a warthog on foot. The problem is, the damage resistance is so low, it’s pretty much safer to be on foot than use it.
We have sprint…might as well use it.

Realism is justified, same reason you don’t go driving a Scorpion into the middle of a built up area just to get jumped by guys on foot.
The Warthog is all about harassing your opponent.
there needs to be a fix for warthog to regain its rightful place and its not 343i fault in fact they have brought it back from what it was in reach, they just didnt seem to take account for the huge buff in power weapons
what vehicals need in my opinion is stronger armour unless being shot directly
EMP from plasma pistol only slows a vehical down (they could add a new power weapon jus for EMPin)
sticky grenades since everyone spawns with them nerf em so they only stick to spartans and not vehicals that way it stops spamming so much but if your either clever and good at timing or just a good throw no problem stickies are still good
DMR needs a nerf in general but i aint personaly noticed it for vehicals but that could be becaused its a problem thats been over shadowed by others
with how many power weapons there are to have 2 spartans in a warthog means thats 2 spartans without power weapons a warthog should be a powerful force to be reckoned with on the battlefield with requiring 2 spartans to use it
I’ve found a gunner riding shotgun makes the hog a much more effective killing machine. A DMR in shotgun quickly ends players who lose their shields from the turret. I look at it as “if we can get more kills out of it than they get out of blowing us up it is a win” More often than not that is the case with the hog. It doesn’t stick around and dominate like it did in H3, but its good with a good driver and support.
Not enough open space for vehicles to go in. On old maps like sandtrap, blood gulch, avalanche etc warthogs did well but now since the new maps have no room to drive its easy to stick and emp them. Also lots of people think vehicles are OP even though they are a VEHICLE. They downgraded the scorpion yet I never had a problem killing it in Reach.
