Why is this still an issue!?!

Why does halo 3 multiplayer still cause my whole Xbox to completely shut off. They said they fixed it last year but they didn’t. It still happens. I have 3 xboxes (in different rooms) and it happens to every single one. It only happens to halo and no other games so this is a MCC issue!

6 months ago I got banned for a week over this! Every time I’d get unbanned it would happen again and again and it just kept stacking. Minute bans turned to hours to a week. (I don’t leave match’s I don’t get booted.) I just wanna play the game!!!

I tried to appeal and tried to get the bans off my record but they told me it was my fault and I needed to wait out my ban. Yes you’re right it’s absolutely my fault for loving the game and wanting to play it. I should have just stopped playing went to school to get a degree in coding then got a job in coding until I got a few years coding experience then got a job at 343 and fixed it myself. My bad that one’s totally on me.

Stopped playing for about 3 months to focus on work and play other games finally got that halo BTB itch tonight got 3 rounds in only to hop in a warthog and have my Xbox shut off. (Join in progress is nice unless the game shuts my Xbox off and is over by the time its completely rebooted.)

Why is this still an issue!?!? Who do I need to email, tweet at, send a letter to, message to get this fixed once and for all?!

Have you tried disabling weapon and armor skins? They tend to crash Halo 3 games

Definitely turn off the skins for H3. Crashes should happen a lot less if at all. It’s kinda lame but definitely better than crashing. I doubt they will ever have MCC bug free.

Personally I don’t believe that the skins are the issue. Disabling the skins does not prevent the crash and likely does not reduce the incidence of crash. I’ve read that PC players deleting map files leads to this type of crash, but this also seems unverified.

Pc players deleting maps from their game leads to game crash on console? Reaally Man

Operative word is unverified. I don’t have a PC copy but try hosting a custom game on map someone has deleted. Observe what happens and report back.

People who have the map will load in and the people who dont have they will be returned to main menu. And I have tried it. So this is false

If a PC player deleted the maps then you’d be kicked back to the menu when the game loads, not crash part way into a match.

For OP:
From what I’ve seen across other threads, skins is the likely culprit. I’ve had them turned off since they’ve come out and pretty rarely get crashes on Xbox.

That’s incredibly frustrating they told you the bans are your fault though when it crashes.
If you’ve tried disabling skins/new armors and still see the issue, try to find a pattern of when it happens (if at all) and any details and log a bug ticket describing the crashes in as much detail as you can.
It’s difficult for a dev to debug an issue (especially one they may not be able to normally reproduce) without a lot of details.

Well I play on an OG Xbox one and I would testify in court that turning off the H3 skins made a huge difference in the amount of times H3 crashed for me. I think they are a problem.

I’ll give the turning off skins a try but honestly we really shouldn’t have to do that. Like I don’t mind the skins I like that we have the option to turn them off but this is a game breaking bug that should have been fixed long ago.

Why are they even adding skins if the skins can’t be used?

Again 343 Why is this still an issue!?!

I tried tweeting at a few people to get attention to this I’ll tweet some more when I get off work.

Also guys disconnecting or the game crashing are completely different from the game causing your whole Xbox to completly shut off.

If we can just collectively keep talking about this contacting who ever in a respectful manner maybe we can get this fixed finally. it’s been a issue for at least a year.

I’ll give you that disconnecting is certainly different from this problem, but on Series X a very similar type of crash happens. A match of H3 will start and very briefly after loading it will freeze and then crash the game. On Xbox One’s it also shuts the console off, but the Series X just boots you back to the dashboard. Likely the two are related as they happen in almost similar circumstances.

This issue also extends beyond H3. Happened to me yesterday (and many times prior) in Reach, however I can rejoin the game now which is a relief.

That’s interesting because the same thing happens on halo wars 2 on series X. Since HW2 isn’t supported any more I didn’t think anything would come from it.

I also had this problem on my Xbox 1X. But since I have played on a Series S, I have not seen it. Old hardware, and 4K, seem to be problematic. The “S” may be the sweet spot.

Honestly the amount people are paying to play on xbx that should be issue number 1.

This has been proven false time and time again. It’s a bug in the overall game unrelated to skins. I disabled skins to just test this theory a few weeks ago, still crashed out several times.

Skins have nothing to do with these crashes.

In my experience, crashes have absolutely NOTHING to do with the new cosmetics and are caused mainly by server glitches/issues.

H2A still has that bug where you’re stuck on the scoreboard, unable to spawn in while you’re getting killed over and over.

343 - please stop adding features when your game simply doesn’t work.
