Hello Halo community. I have been playing Halo 5’s Arena mode, regularly and on and off at points since January of 2016, a time that seems looong before the latest update. I assume many people have benefited from the latest update in the past few months since it was release . For some reason, in the past month or two, I, who was fairly middle-of-the-road in skill in H5’s mp, have just been doing terrible. I mostly play Arena, with some ranked and some social here and there. Could I be doing bad k/d wise because of the Low player base? Better players? Or maybe my average skills went down the toilet? I do not know.
It could be, because of the people you’re playing with. Every time I play with Mexicans, I lag a * YOINK * ton.

Are you personally doing worse, or is your team losing more games, or is it a combination of both?
You’re getting burned out, it’s a phenomena that happens with all games. After you play 1 singular game for so long, you’ll start to burn out. A good way to undo this is by simply playing something else for a while. What I do is play all of games (GTA V, Titanfall 2, Halo 5, Minecraft, and Overwatch) every week, with no long or big streaks unless some big event is going on. That way I never get burned out because I wont be playing it for long extents of time.
I think even some YouTubers do this so that they don’t get bored of their channels main game.

You realize Pro eSport players log 50-80 games a day, right?
You may have just plateaued. But you’re not going to get better by not playing or playing less. You get better by playing a few games, go into theater, evaluate your gameplay, identify your weak points, and jump back in and try to correct the issues you found by focusing on making better decisions in-game. It’s not an instant fix, it takes time - but you will get better by playing more if you’re consciously making an effort to improve. You can’t get better if you don’t first identify what you’re doing wrong.
Cdog815, if you want to get better - check out Luke TheNotable’s YouTube channel. He breaks down almost every aspect of professional play into easy to understand videos. His videos might not make you a Pro eSports player, but it will most likely break you out of your plateau and help you find the areas of your gameplay that aren’t up to par. I’m not saying this will happen for everyone, but after watching his videos for a couple weeks and working on my gameplay based on his tips, I was able to earn my first Perfection in Halo 5.
This is by far my favorite video of his - _“How To Play SMARTER In Halo 5 - WIN MORE!”_This video breaks down how important your decision making is in the middle of a game, even if you start out poorly. I love how he stays calm, cool, and collected and responds with logic to every thing that happens in the match; whether it’s good/bad or fair/unfair. This shows that a players mentality in a match is the most important aspect to doing well - more so even than accuracy, strafing, jumps, map control, etc. You’ll need a solid foundation of all of those things, but without the logical decision making skills under the pressure of being in the middle of a match, you’ll never be able to utilize them effectively.
I’m not assuming you’re bad, but I am saying that everyone can get better.

Combination. I’m doing much worse. I’m talking like 7-8 kills minimum on Slayer or pretty much any other Arena mode to about 1 or 2 kills oftentimes. Most of my teams lately have done pretty bad as well.

I’ll definitely have to check out Theater mode and see what mistakes I have made in some of my matches. Usually, if I’m doing just terrible I do get frustrated, which ends up not helping. I’m the type of player where I have the most enjoyment doing at least somewhat good.

Fairly certain thats most of the Halo player base these days considering how I get cursed out if I hold my team up…even if we win.
