Why is there Reach armour in the store that isn't in the battlepass?

I actually really miss the days when you used to be able to just buy a game. The problem is too many people fail to understand that at least half the reason we are where we are is because of consumers. Gamers are one of the most toxic consumer communities around, and the lion’s share of them spent too long believing that we should be getting more and more in every game and not paying a dime more than $60 for it.

Sticker prices in gaming have been one of the most stable across the entertainment industry, and when you consider that traditional gaming doesn’t have any other avenue of revenue (box office sales, concert receipts) that’s pretty impressive. Publishers saw what was going on in mobile, that people would impulse buy something for $5 a dozen times a month, even people who complain about a $70 game, and microtransactions made their way to gaming.

Sadly like most business practices, supplementing revenue quickly turned to “make as much as we can”, and here we are. The trend won’t stop until it loses money, and people still prove year after heat that they’ll spend up to twice as much as the sticker price by way of microtransactions vs buying a game upfront for $80.

Which is essentially another way of saying to circumvent the progression system and just buy everything in the battle pass they weren’t telling the truth they said a lot and then gave us something completely different

100% agree. Store needs to be ditched entirely. Or at the very least, armor should never be in the store. (Also, obligatory “let me choose all my own colors instead of pre-made coatings”)

Preach!! It’s so dumb, reused content should be free

The entire MP game is free, what should people be paying for? I’m asking seriously here, because people keep making arguments based on games 6 years or older, ignoring modern market trends and not in relation to the actual game they’re complaining about.

What should be in the store, in my opinion: Armor effects, vehicle skins, weapon skins, weapon keychains, vehicle addons, weapon addons, new emblems(like the chibi emblems), nameplates, unique armor skins (like camos, MLG skins, other texture/patterns changes), armor lights, animated visors, and maybe missed event items and new to Halo armors.

What shouldn’t be in the store: Past armors, Primary and secondary colors, past default emblems, past visors, Forge objects, gametypes, past halo vehicles (or model swaps/skins to make vehicles look like past halo games example a ghost skin for the covenant ghost),

Don’t forget you have buy CR to level up in the battle past quicker, Campaign (which according to leaks has no armor to unlock), and assumed Campaign expansions as a revenue source which give little reason to have high prices. Let alone the merch (you guys need better merch designers) and brand deals (Pringles and such). I bought the Art book after all.

I highly preferred if you went with the Reach CR system, which would take longer to unlock everything (and you could do the Rockstar GTA V system of buying in-game currency for money is an option for those that don’t want or have time to play the game). But players could save up CR to buy up the armors they want. The UI would be more cleaner and easier to navigate. You could have made the non standard 30 primary and secondary colors cost CR. Same goes with new to halo backgrounds for emblems but you gutted emblem customization.

The store definitely shouldn’t be armors at all it should be items that are like crazy and just mostly silly cosmetics but they should still be at a small reasonable price not a crazy price and for the armor coatings instead of having all of these different armor coatings just get rid of them and allow people to do what they can do in the MCC but make it newer to where they can have the ability to add camouflage those colors they choose so someone can be pink and red and be camo at the same time or something like that because the armor coatings that they have the design is actually really good I like that there’s seven different options to change the color of and the middle core of the coatings is where the camouflage stuff is usually shown so why not just make it to where people can just use any colors they want like in every other Halo game and just make it to where the camouflage is the new option that we have instead of making everything purchasable

Definitely a good idea for 343 to follow and they definitely gutted the emblem system I mean look at the mcc’s emblems look at how many options have and you can even unlock more by completing achievements like beating the part-time and stuff like that and then you look at Halo infinite and there’s barely any emblems worthwhile and there’s no wolf emblem at all there’s the North America launch emblem which is a wolf but it’s an emblem I have to pay $9 for no thank you

The battlepass? He’ll, they can keep the store. Content from 10 years ago should not be re charged at such an astronomical level. We were also promised MANY things that were either a lie, or they backtracked was farther down the line.

Also, we all called this when we were told the game would be FTP. This is not a new IP like Fortnight, Halo used to give us a lot more for our $$$ and now it $10 for -Yoink!- shoulders. No one Here is saying they can’t make money, they are doing it in just about all the worst ways possible.

Except there is “Reach” content in the pass, and charging for recycled content is the crux of the whole complaint, so how can they charge for the pass if it contains content “we should not be recharged for”?

Also, you’re holding “promises” made about an intended 10 year project over two weeks in pre-release of that project. Really no point going into the fact that consumer inferences are no one but the consumers fault, the game isn’t even in retail yet and people are frothing over a lack of stuff (more often a lack of free stuff).

Oh yeah, the writing was absolutely on the wall when they announced FTP, but the rest of it has no bearing on anything. Last Halo game was 6 years ago, and gakkng has changed considerably on that time. The brands biggest competitor made the jump into FTP (CoD WZ) to massive success. Halo doesn’t exist in a vacuum and they’re not gonna ignore a potentially massive revenue stream when others have proven its wildly successful.

A bunch of people are literally saying the game shouldn’t make money the way this way or that, based on personal bias. The lions share of complaints about cosmetics in Infinite are “I expect more free stuff with my free game”. “It’s ok to make money as long as it doesn’t upset my bias” is not a viable argument. How is an FTP to make money if they’re not “allowed” to charge for cosmetic content when people complain? Where is the line drawn?

You call this the worst way possible, but their pricing isn’t out of step with what their competitors have been successful in doing (for the most part anyway).

Be honest, would you have bought Infinite MP as a standalone for full retail ($60), while it’s campaign is being sold separately for the same price? Keep in mind that what happened 6 years ago or more has no bearing on this discussion, that train has sailed.

Because FucXing Free money

Your justifications are so pathetic. We all understand company want more money.

We just fundamentally disagree and do not want it in Halo.
The fanbase is at a crossroads. You can be on the side that tries to keep their integrity or on the side that turns their belly up and submits to these practices. Seems like you’ve already decided.

I don’t care what you have to say anymore. Your statements are beyond obvious, noone is arguing with your points that they want more money and the competition does the same. We just hold Halo to different standards. We can also raise enough fuss against it.

Better question is why every level of the pass doesn’t have Reach armor. Every level should have some armor and shoulders should go back to the pair being treated as one object for rewards. Then put the extra in the store.

Lol what integrity? You have a completely free game that you can play for hundreds of hours without spending a dime. Your entire disposition hinges on the notion that enjoyment of Halo is directly impacted by customization or a lack thereof. No one is holding you hostage with content you need.

You cannot argue that you’re being ripped off when you don’t have to buy anything, so this little moral or integrity based quandary you’re trying to create doesn’t exist. Nothing behind the pass or any microtransaction impacts gameplay. Yes, previous Halo titles gave you more but they also cost money. You write off my justifications because they don’t validate your whining, but you ignore my question at the end of the post you’re responding to.

If all you guys are after is a little circle-jerk of validation then knock yourselves out, but if you can’t even argue your “point” with me, how are gonna convince a developer to lose money because it’s “the right thing to do”?

A very solid argument. At the very least it should have double what’s on offer, free as well as paid. That the pass is so saturated with boosts and swaps that feed into a system that already tends to encourage microtransactions is about as consumer unfriendly as it gets.

You’re such a good little submissive consumer. You’re right, we should all be so well behaved and be grateful for the opportunity to pay 343 whatever they want.

Could have added another set of armor to the pass if you didn’t have to unlock each shoulder separately.

Sooooo, your just fine with the game being super scummy and eventually dying early for it then? Because that’s what is going to happen as it has with many games before.

Please, continue to lick the boots that beat you.

Ho yes that is the finest jokes of the Battlepass. 2 tiers for shoulders. How is it not obvious it is designed to make you waste time and overprice you for some is beyond me.

Yet we have people here like SweetTRIX defending bad business practices that even the developers know is bad…
