there has been a lack of info on this subject but looking at the Xbox store Halo 5 reeds 1-1 players without online players. In translation that means no split screen for this game in any way shape or form. There are many people who like to play halo with each face to face without dragging an Xbox to each others houses. there were posts that the reason for this is that it will drop the frame rate. this is true. now your up to date.
Most games including throws with mesh renders like halo 5, halo 4, and halo 2 for the MCC. With four players the frame rate will drop typically from 60 fps to 30 fps.
here’s what I don’t get about that It take 15 fps to fool the human eye. that is amusing that they are not changing the mesh rendering.
lets look at this from the developers perspective. to understand this here are a few fancy terms you need to understand if you do not know what these are you do not need to read any further.
- Mesh rendering - the presses of making a 3d object look good. - hit box - the mesh or 3d model used to determine hit or miss. - scripting - the fundamentals of all programswhat 343 has done from reach to halo 5 is a little trick to make the game look good with little to no problems. lets call it play rendering for now until I know the technical terms. for all intents and purposes it make every thing in front of you look good within a certain range while things you cant are barely rendered at all. for you game developers out here here is how you do it you make a script that says “if (on collusion stay) then render it” then you put the hit box in front of the camera. or you can use raycast.
Here’s where things get hard for theme. now we use split screen. split screen means there are up to four different people with four different hit boxes and as such four different renders of the same thing. as a note in previous halo game halo reach thru halo 4 lowers the range of the play render to account for the frame rate.
As for my self I will not buy halo 5 due to this. I even bought the limited edition of halo 4 and pre-ordered the MCC. sorry 343 I love the games but if I cant play with my friends I’m going to stay on the MCC.
The is already a dedicated thread for this topic please use it.

Yes. Also to actually answer the question, its because H5 has ALREADY pushed the limits of the Xbone. Pretty sad, as the Xbone is still new compared to the 360, which lasted many years before devs actually pushed the limits of it.

The thing with the Xbox one is that is pretty much just a glorified pc,… So its easier to develop for unlike the 360 which had a very different architecture compared to a pc which is why it took longer to max out the 360
You are misinformed if you think the lack of split screen is down exclusively to the graphics. The issue also lies in the advanced AI and larger scale, more set pieces and so on. Graphics on their own can be scaled down–except for the 60FPS–but the underlying system would have to be neutered for the game to work on split screen. They discovered this far too late in development to fix it.

This please let’s leave it at that.

You’re also dead wrong here.
As the others have said, there’s already a thread for splitscreen discussion.
Thanks!
