Why is There No Input Based Matchmaking?

Unless I’m just really blind and didn’t see it, why is there no option for input based matchmaking let alone just an option for crossplay? Ranked as far as I can tell is the only place you can choose inputs but I don’t like to play ranked.

I’m really liking the game so far but this among some other things just feels like a step backwards from MCC.

EDIT: All I meant by this post was that I prefer to play with people on the same input as I am using as I find it more enjoyable whether I’m on controller or m&k. Just having options for people who want a more selective experience I think is better than not having those options as long as the options are opt in/out on both platforms.

Does it matter, how do you even know what the other team are using?

Usually the imbalanced kill count will give it away. When someone has 50+ kills and everyone else has, like 2, then it’s clear there’s some BS going on. When you get killed by someone on the OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP and they’re using a chain gun or something to snipe you with that’s pretty much a dead giveaway. And you have to go through several dozens rounds of that before you can start achieving narrow victories to the tune of 1 kill higher than the opposing team. Fortunately mouse and keyboard users are only interested in kills and objective-based gameplay appears to cause them to have a stroke so there is that.

You can tell if someone is using m&k literally just by how fast their character turns in game. I personally just like playing with players on controller so everyone is on the same playing field and I tend to enjoy myself more.

OMG Exactly, thank you. More than likely it’s just another controller/console player dogging them but because they’re getting rekt it must be “sweaty elite PC M&K”. But they’d rather blame some external source rather than internalize and think “maybe it’s me, maybe I’m just bad, maybe I should try a little harder and get better.”

On the same playing field and enjoying yourself more.

What a novel idea.

What gun is that? Also Mnk doesn’t magically decrease weapon spread for guns (like the heavy machine guns) that have one. Your post makes no sense.

Its not even a fact of “getting rekt by a PC mega sweat”. Its just more enjoyable playing with people on the same input. If I played m&k I’d want to play with m&k.

I played like 9 hours yesterday (controller) and I could only differentiate an enemy’s input if they did a 360 (which doesn’t help them at all). Controller users really like to use MnK players as a scapegoat for their own poor performance when in reality we have the advantage.

Fair enough. But do you want to play the people on the same platform too? Because there’s advantages to higher framerates, as well. If you want input based matchmaking, you must want platform based matchmaking, as well right? You know for same playing field and what not. So we need to split all the Xbox One users, Xbox Series X/S users, PC users, and also all the different input methods for each platform, as well. Right?

A lot of people have the toxic ”they just suck” attitude.

But if there is an option to play on equal grounds for those who want that, then what’s the problem? Everyone would be happy wouldn’t they? I can’t think of anything bad about it.

For me personally I just want the input based mm and I don’t care so much about the platform unless if down the line if the game gets a bad hacker problem like Warzone then I will want platform based mm. I’m more so saying it as an option for players who want a more selective experience. How MCC did it where you could pick if you want platform based mm, input based mm or both I think was better imo as you could opt in or out whenever you want. Ya you have a point with the framerate affecting the gameplay as well but I personally don’t find it affects the gameplay as much as which input you’re using. Just having options is better than no options is all I’m saying.

Got ya. As long as they make the opt in/out the same on each platform/input, seems fair to me.

Longer queue times would be the only down side.

That is such a minor difference ha. It’s skill based matchmaking, dunno what everyone’s issue is.

There is no real difference in who you are playing. If you are getting destroyed then I’m sorry it’s the player not the input.

Honestly I doubt that will be a problem unless the population plummets.

I was using turning really fast as an example. Just as I said to D_dawgy I personally like playing with people that are playing on the same input as me whether I’m using controller or m&k and that’s just a personal preference. It has nothing to do about me “getting destroyed” (which is not why I made this post to begin with). Having at least input based as an option for people who want it I think is better than not having it for the people who do want a more selective experience as long as it’s opt in/out on both platforms.
