Why is there no Dislike Button?

I have a feeling that with a lot of negative threads being posted I would much enjoy a down vote button just to show how much I dislike their opinion.

Less about hurting feelings and more about facilitating negativity. And this forum already has way too much of that.

first and foremost, it’s because the halo waypoint forums are a CRAP forum, these forums do NOT exist to provide relavant accurate information, they exist only to APPEAR to provide a place of relavant actual information.
go and read over the rules, did you know that it’s AGAINST the rules to say stuff negative about halo and 343 on the forums?
furthermore, the moderation team has PROVEN to be childish handing out perma bans over the slightest infractions all for the sake making the forums appear like a happy and fun place.
literately, halo waypoint is the north korea of internet forums. they want everyone to think that everything here is possitive and happy, even though it’s not. but they will shutdown, or try to shutdown any negativity all for the sake of appearences

fun fact, one word responses are SPAM by the definition of the halo waypoint rules, thus your one word response of “reported” is against the rules.

you do realise the mods can see your edit history.
also changing a quoted text to make it seem like someone say something else is trolling.

I feel zero likes is just as bad. It’s an ordinary non noticable post.

I would click dislike to this because theres no point of adding that

I disagree, I believe that adding the dislike button would add the ability to see that people don’t agree with you and give the author an ability to see that their view is unpopular.

Here are the forum rules at the top of most sections (including this one). Here is a direct quote from them,

  • Please do not have a large percentage of your posts that are only negative rants against anything Halo, Xbox, or the forums. This is a form of trolling that only inflames the community and incites more flaming and abusive posts. *(Italics mine.)*I’ve been critical of 343 here and there. And I’ve broken several of the rules. Mostly before I read the rules but some after. I have never even been warned of anything, let alone banned or suspended (although I did get a thread locked for complaining about complainers). Just FYI.

And, on topic, I would like to see a dislike button because it appears many of you don’t realize what the phrase “Don’t feed the trolls!” means. It means any kind of attention you give to a haters thread, even if it’s with a “K! BYE!” post, only gives the hater the attention he craves and bumps his thread to the top of the forum for the next unsuspecting victim to take the bait. So, yes, a dislike button would probably help so all the petty troll threads would fade away.

Do you really think people care about a like or dislike button?

this is true.
i never said whether it had to be a large or small percentage of posts, sure’ it’s a omission but i’m not lying when i said it was against the rules. of course many would understand the neccessity of not feeding the trolls. this new generations doesn’t seem to know what trolling is, let alone how to respond to it, they seemt o think everything counter to their beliefs is trolling even when valid complaints and criticisms are well… valid.

Nah.

Don’t trust such a function outside of small and tied-together communities. Just creates a way for the majority to bully any dissenters.

Waypoint once had a function where you could see who liked your post. It just lead to a lot of unnecessary tension and drama between people and got removed shortly after being implemented.

If not a dislike button there needs to be a way to burry all of the shi-…er…unconstructive bait posts.
