Why is there no Dedicated Server Browser?

I’ve seen very little to nothing on this topic. This really proves 343’s laziness or incompetence, because even BF4 had a dedicated server browser when it -Yoinked!- up, so I ask why doesn’t this game?

I mean, Halo CE had a dedicated server browser, launched on PC in 2003. Halo 2 had a dedicated server browser, released in 2007 on PC. Halo 3 never came to pc, cuz Microsoft, and neither did halo 4. But those games are more modern, and you would assume that 343 would assume responsibility and do the best they could with gluing this game together (Since 1 team handled the Anniversary campaign, Blur studio’s did the cut-scenes, some other team handled multiplayer, someone else did music, and 343 had to deal with matchmaking and UI) but no instead were stuck with a -Yoink- matchmaking system and often times broken custom games.

Seriously a dedicated server browser could’ve done wonders for this game even with matchmaking broken. I could find servers I want with maps I want, when I want and with good pings instead of praying that I find;
A match that doesn’t lag
A match that has competent players, even teams
A match without half of my team quitting
A match without a host migration
etc.

And then, 343/Microsoft could’ve charged a ton for Halo MCC servers that I’m sure some people would’ve happily bought. One of my favorite experiences was in 2010, when I discovered Halo CE on PC and I played Cops 'n Robbers (Special CTF server, never ends and no flag capturing. quiet a bit of roleplay). Sadly that ship’s sailed, and it will never be brought back by Halo MCC.

Also, instead of creating this awful matchmaking system that condenses 99 maps and dozens of gamemodes into about 12 playlists on average, I would’ve perfered they had 4 separate lobbies that incorporate multiple games and forces certain maps into modes&scales they weren’t designed for. Also I could play halo 3 and pretend halo 4 didn’t happen.

I like how people come in here and ask why doesn’t the game have certain features. Why doesn’t it have this or that or why not this… Well probably the same reason the game doesn’t have any thing else like working ranks or population count or action sack or any of the other stuff Halo is supposed to have, 343 are a bunch of yoinks who screwed up MCC.

Well ever since 343’s latest -Yoink- up everyone’s had an entitlement contest, so why can’t I chime in (I’m only a few months late :P) with things that should’ve happened.

I guess it goes to show 343’s laziness, they must of had one guy coding the interface and server structure for Halo MCC if they didn’t think of a dedicated server browser. Would’ve fixed SO many issues, but alas it didn’t happen.

It may not have been that, but either way, it seems like the average (see: uneducated) console gamer somewhat regards a server browser with some sort of aversion.

I’m sure they would have liked to put one in. But then that would have downplayed the importance of ranked play, and god forbid that ranked play would have taken a backseat to something that would have made this game infinitely more functional. There’s also the laughable aversion people have to join in progress, which is an inherent feature to a server browser.

Hence, why we are stuck in such a self-defeating cycle with the rather deprecated and inferior (from its very inception) matchmaking system. That doesn’t necessarily discount the possibility of them adding it in in the future, though.

Does Dedicated Server works on Quick Match or on Server Browser or even both? I still don’t get it?

I have always wanted a server browser for custom games, it would work fine in my opinion.

This would never work since the MCC is using dedicated servers maybe 5% of the time.

That’s being generous. Titanfall set the template, gears will follow, yet halo doesn’t… Because of the p2p most probably. 343 smfh

Maybe it just couldn’t be done due to the amount of games playing from different engines? I’m not 100% sure but if there’s one thing I do know is that Halo 5 WILL be on dedicated servers

it is very disappointing, with better matchmaking and custom games options this game would be SOO amazing. Untapped potential.

Probably because the game only utilizes dedicated servers like 40% of the time.
