Ever since the release of the Majestic map pack I’ve been wondering why 343 insist on making an individual playlist for each DLC, then removing it once the new one comes out.
I barely ever play on DLC playlists because I don’t want to play on the same 3 maps over and over again, and I would adore the implementation of a playlist that incorporates all DLC maps.
I bet that a majority of the people who own the Castle map pack also own the previous two map packs, so why not make a playlist that will not only be funner and more diverse, but increase player population?
Maybe 343 are planning to wait until the Castle map pack has run it’s course (a month) then make the playlist I’m talking about. I certainly hope so. Or maybe, a less favorable idea, they are planning to do ‘encores’ of the playlists like the Spartan Ops episodes. I would still welcome the idea to be able to replay the previous DLC maps online (mostly Majestic, in particular Skyline).
This would also help the players to get the as of now impossible Crimson and Majestic DLC achievements.
Please 343, I want my money’s worth!
I guess it’s because some maps are 4v4 and others 8v8. I wouldn’t mind a all dlc playlist though

That shouldn’t really matter. The Crimson/Majestic/Castle-specific playlists also had both small and large maps, and having six players per team solves that problem. It does get a little crowded and chaotic on the smallest maps, but that’s still far better than hardly ever playing on them in regular playlists.
I hope that the Castle-DLC playlist gets replaced by an all-DLC playlist eventually, hopefully sooner than later.
It will eventually come for sure.

I can’t imagine how it would be that difficult for 343 to do this, but then again I don’t know much about game development.
Yeah, there really needs to be an all DLC playlist.
We need two DLC playlists not just one because the maps are either for small teams or big ones so my proposal is this:
A 5v5 “Squad DLC” playlist that uses the Majestic map pack, Harvest, Daybreak and Forge Island maps with both Slayer and Objective gametypes.
An 8v8 “BTB DLC” playlist that uses the Crimson and Castle map packs and Forge Island maps with both Slayer and Objective gametypes.
BUMP I have 3 very major complaints about halo 4 1: the muffled voices in campaign/lack of witty humor. 2: the music and this.
The big thing about this is , I paid money to own maps that I never get to play because finding a room with all map pack owners is close to impossible in matchmaking. I spent 4 hours the other day trying to accomplish that very feat and played ONE match where it was evident everyone had the map packs. I think an all dlc playlist would be welcomed. And I see what people are getting at with 2, but last thing we need is more fragmentation.
Only maps I see come up are the Crimson ones. I play Castle in the Castle DLC and barely see Majestic come up when I play FFA, or Regicide.

Well, you wouldn’t need all the maps all the time. They could pretty easily just rotate the maps in and out every couple of weeks, and change the team size (4v4, 6v6) as the size of the maps changes.
Its too good of an idea to be in Halo 4.
Seriously though, it would be so beneificial.
The Matchmaking team have said in the past that they’re looking into ways of having DLC playlists. Obviously it isn’t as simple as prior games because the maps vary in size, especially Majestic.

You must not have played Halo: Reach after 343 took over. They don’t support DLC playlists, they take them away.
All dlc should go free after 4 months or so. basically like movies going to cable after they cost $10 in a theater for a few months. eventually everyone gets to enjoy them. I bought map pack bundle when castle came out. i never get to play the first two packs.
