Why is there a quit ban now?

343 why did you secretly put in a quit ban and not notify the players about this? At least Bungie told us that there were doing this. This feels really shady. With a join in progress system people are bound to quit a game that is not going so well. Next time you add something into the game let us know about it.

Don’t quit and it won’t be a problem.

That is not the point. We should have been told that this was being put in place. 343 check out this thread to see how unhappy people are with this.http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=416142

It’s pretty well known, and I hope it stays. Too many people already quit, don’t need more ruining the game for people who don’t quit. The JIP system almost never works and I’m usually stuck 2v4 for the entire game.

> That is not the point. We should have been told that this was being put in place.

It is the point. You have to quit A LOT to get banned so stop crying just b/c you bail out all the time. As others have said, JIP is far from perfect. Besides, you can use the Network Status menu to avoid JIP.

Be careful, there’s a ban for cheating as well. Just want to make sure you know in case 343 didn’t specifically tell you.

> Don’t quit and it won’t be a problem.

lagg splitting up players but not ending the game = quitting
restarting search = quitting
joining games in progress down 20+ kills isn’t fun because its nothing but killed by power weapons over and over … = quitting

its much harder then you think, especially when a normal expected act counts as quitting and is done frequently.

I never quit games myself so this is not an issue for me but iam just looking into this since iam an Xbox Ambassador and people have been asking be why they were banned after quitting and also I saw that people were asking about it on another forum. Also your last comment was uncalled for.

Restarting a search doesn’t count as a quit. And you don’t have to use JIP but I’m guessing you don’t quit when you’re winning a game vs. joining a losing one.

Regardless, you have to quit a lot to get a ban so you deserve a time out for doing it.

I know you’re just being a sarcastic -Yoink!- but Bungie did actually have a posted warning for cheaters. I don’t know if you recall seeing: “Banhammer: Cheating or manipulating the system will get you banned”.

I don’t often quit games, but when I’m put on a 5v5 game with idle teammates in an objective game, it’s very irritating. The worst is when you get some (assumably young) -Yoink- who’s annoyed that you took the Ghost he wanted, so he throws sticky grenades at you to blow it up. I don’t think I would ever quit if there were a system in place to kick idle players and people who screw over your team without actually killing you.

This. Stop acting like 343 is the National Government inserting the Patriot Act. This is a good change. People should be punished for repeatedly quitting. It’s why League of Legends doesn’t let you join a new game (after you quit from the previous one) until the game you quit from has ended. This was a much needed measure.

Why should they give out a warning?

If you quit so many times that the system triggers the ban on you, then clearly you have an issue completing games or you have a bad connection. All a warning will do is let you get up the limit of quits

Those moaning about the ban have clearly triggered it…learn your lesson and it wont happen again

If they’re going to keep the Quit Ban, then take away the JiP. That feature sucks. End of story.

Just switch your connection to “my Xbox” when you get into a lobby of a game that’s already started.

ssshhh

JiP is one of the smartest things 343i did, its ironic that in a quit ban thread, that the solution to that of people quitting leaving teams outnumbered is also complained about

I do hate quitters restarting a match because they were host but occasionally you have to accept they might have a good reason to quit.

[/li]- Parents tell the kid to turn off the Xbox and do the homework.

  • Phone rings.
  • Someone’s at the front door.
  • Dinner’s ready.
  • Griefer is destroying friendly vehicles
  • HORRENDOUS Lag (I sure am not staying when everyone is teleporting all over the place).
  • Xbox crashes.
  • Power cut.
  • Lose Internet connection.
  • Lightning Storm (ie have to turn everything off or risk power surge).

Those 10 were off the top of my head. Granted you could have instances 2,3 and 4 and just put the controller down but then you can get banned for being AFK. YOU JUST CANNOT WIN IN THIS CASE.

But all those reasons above are genuine reasons why you would/should quit a game in progress. I think that I have quit with all those reasons but number 1 (I’m old enough that I don’t live with my parents any more lol). I don’t want to go AFK so I disconnect from the game.

I sure as hell don’t want to risk my equipment when there is a storm nearby (lost one Xbox360 to a surge even with a surge protector fitted) and with the bugs in H4 I have had reason 7 happen a LOT. I’ve also had a lot of power cuts recently… or brown outs.

So to have 343 ban people because they are quitting is kind of stupid. I can see their reason (ie they don’t want to cause people to change host mid game but that is 343’s fault for not hosting the servers) but it’s a flawed reason.

Yeah but if players quit and used those as fake reasons they quit the problem would still exist. gamers quit because most dont like losing and claim its the teamates fault. Whats the point gamers bragging about a W/R ratio when their quit ratio is high. You win some oyou lose some thats how it works

> Don’t quit and it won’t be a problem.

JIP is the number one reasons I leave games.

You leaving games is the number one reason why both the Quit Ban and JiP are so important

So, blame yourself

The real question is, is how sensitive is the quit ban?
