Seriously, am I the only one that thinks this is a way to make people who have less skill feel like they’re accomplishing something?
There’s a medal for everything short of dying. As long as you die without anything else going on, or you might get rewarded with a “Distraction”.
There’s even a medal for a generic kill. “Oh, I’m sorry, you didn’t get a headshot? Here’s a medal anyway. Good job.”
It’s like giving everyone who was on a kid’s baseball team a trophy - it defeats the purpose.
You can get a beyond the grave medal. I think that still exist, so you can still get a medal if you die. I do agree that the medals in this game are ridiculous. Was in game where a friend of mine got 130 medals. That’s a little extreme, if I do say so myself.
There’s no medal for getting headshots with the sniper.
There’s no Spartan Laser medal to my knowledge.
You get medals for being shot at.
You get medals for comeback kills.
You get medals for kills in general.
Blegh.
New medals that make me happy every time I get them: Road Trip (mostly from the awesome announcement and the ballsy driver) & Hail Mary (I especially love this one when it’s a respawn From the Grave Hail Mary that would not have been a Hail Mary otherwise).
Ramir3z77, there are totally Splaser medals. There’s a medal for like every power weapon kill, I think…

There is one for the Laser and for the sniper. You get a headshot medal if you land the headsot so you can get two medals for one kill
More importantly, why aren’t there weapon sprees anymore? I miss getting Sharpshooter.
Seems to me like there are less in some ways, they took out all of the weapon sprees, no more jetpacking achievements (loved those), no extermination that I’ve seen, no perfection, no splatter spree/sunday driver, they cut a ton of medals so adding a few new ones doesn’t really hurt does it?

Good point, I really miss those.
They replaced medals that made you feel like you were accomplishing something with medals that reward the most mundane performances.

Perfections are in, got one today. BUt im the same as you, seems less of them. But i think after all tehat Firefight in Reach im just use to hearing something every third kill
What I don’t get is why they took out medals for specific sprees and perfections.
Get 15 perfections for the commendation and that’s it. They’re totally pointless after that.
Getting things like Hunting Season, Sword Spree, Sharpshooter, etc. made you want to get sprees with certain weapons. Now it’s just generic sprees for everything other than being Flood.

There is a sniper headshot medal for all snipers.
Spartan Laser medal is also in.
You get medals for being a distraction, while your partner kills the guy shooting at you.

OP, you hit the nail on the head.
A few years back you were only awarded a medal or points for actually doing something that was helpful to the team.
Their is a disturbing trend that has begun in recent years with developers feeling that they need to reward the player every footstep they take.
In terrible games this is a must as the player will simply leave the game because it is bad. We have a fine example of this in Halo 4.

Hi,
Extermination medal can not be obtained in games where there is instant re-spawn. However,in games, such as CTF, where there is a 5 second re-spawn delay (I think thats the time) you can earn the extermination medal.
I miss the splatter sprees and all the weapon specific spree medals.
I am trying to find the original source but, I do recall 343i saying before release of Halo 4 that they were improving the medal design and adding new medals…they did not mention that they were removing medals.
The same with commendations…they said they were adding new ones but, didn’t mention the removal of any.

Actually, there is no Perfection medal. All there is the silly Commendation progress for Perfections.

No, there is not.
The only medal they have for a sniper is killing someone with it. There is no “Sniper Headshot” medal like Halo 3 or Reach.
A Headshot or bodyshot equal the same medal.

But yeah, they really devalued the whole medal system. I used to be proud when I got medals, but now you get medals for literally anything.
I can see it now, Halo 5.
Walking Spree - Walk 5 steps
Walking Frenzy - Walk 10 steps
MARATHON!!! - Walk 15 steps
I once got extermination overkill in infinity slayer abandon. goml. Just kidding, I have gotten it once. Got speed boost ordnance and picked up scattershot from the ground and went to town
