Why is there a 20 character requirement?

This is a forum… Why are they taking it that seriously? What If someone asks a direct question and my response only had to be, “no”?

I don’t like it either but it serves a purpose. Halo talk can get pretty muddy, fast. so one word replies just adds to the mess. It’s better that each reply you think of something that can contribute something to the conversation

Edit:Also. I forgot how to do it but you can edit your reply to make it look like less than 20 characters. That’s still extra steps that most people won’t take tho

Just cause

I guess they want replies that add more to the conversation by giving the reasons for the replies or going into more detail, but sometimes the replies can’t be longer without adding unnecessary words, which is just unnecessary.
It reminds me of that increasingly verbose meme.

There isn’t

But really it is there help prevent spam and keep comments productive and meaningful. If you simply agree then use the heart.
Obviously this doesn’t actually work, and people just type randomness for 20 characters

Unfortunately, there’s a limit on hearts.

In my opinion based on pure experience from writing a relatively large number of forum posts, I wouldn’t consider the 20 character requirement to be any barrier for constructive and insightful discussions.

The main reasoning for this is that it’s usually required to at least write down 20 characters in order to make a post somewhat constructive. In addition to that, it should not be encouraged to write single word responses as these responses do usually leave a lot of from for interpretation.

It kind of works backwards because the more characters people type the greater chance they’re going to have to throw the game under the bus lol

Heart it up! <3
Maybe twice?
